Host 0:04 Welcome to the Blogger Genius Podcast brought to you by MiloTree. Here's your host, Jillian Leslie.
Jillian Leslie 0:11 Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the show. I wanted to start by saying that building a business on the internet is a journey.
So for example, David, my husband and I started our first business Catch My Party in 2009. And we grew it—and it's still growing—into the largest party ideas site on the web.
And then, because we needed to grow our own social media followers, David built MiloTree, the pop up that grows your followers on Pinterest, and Instagram, and YouTube and Facebook and your email list, and all of that. We built it for ourselves.
And then we rolled it out as a separate business because we thought other bloggers and online entrepreneurs could get value out of it. So boom, there we started our second business, and then to put a human face on MiloTree which looked like a cold app.
I started The Blogger Genius Podcast where I interview the best experts, online experts, successful entrepreneurs to really figure out what's working now in online business. And from this, David and I, given all of our experience, started coaching.
And so we have a Six Week Coaching Group, and we have a Membership. So once you finish the six weeks, you can join our Monthly Membership. And in the six week program, we get to know you so well, and we help you build your business in real time.
So we do live Zoom calls every week. We give homework every week and hold you accountable. Not only that, but we know all about your business. We know all about your website. We are constantly giving you personalized attention.
If that feels interesting or something you'd like to participate in. Please head to milotree.com/group and you can read all about it. Our new group is starting August 4, and I'd love to actually get on a call with you to talk to you about it. Just a free call to give you some insight.
I want you to send me your website so I can take a look, give you some pointers and see if it's a good fit. That's interesting to you. Please reach out to me at [email protected].
I've got one of my favorite guests on the show today. It is my friend Kate Ahl from Simple Pin Media. I've known Kate now for years.
This is her third appearance on the podcast. And what I love to do is to check in with Kate to talk about what is working on Pinterest right now. Pinterest is a huge traffic driver for all of us so this episode is a must-listen for anyone trying to drive traffic to their site.
Imagine a world where growing your social media followers and email list was easy...If you are looking for ways to grow your community whether that be email whether that be social media, right now head to Milotree.com install the MiloTree app on your blog and it will do the work for yo...
What's Next for Food Bloggers: Changes in 2024
The Blogger Genius Podcast
01/17/24 • 44 min
Hello, creators and food enthusiasts! Today, I'm thrilled to share with you my recent interview with my friend, Megan Porta, the creative force behind Pip and Ebby and the Eat Blog Talk podcast. We dove into the evolving world of food blogging and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in 2024.
Embracing Change and InnovationAs we step into the new year, the landscape of food blogging is shifting. With the rise of AI content and the impending phase-out of third-party cookies, it's clear that we need to adapt our strategies. My advice? Pivot towards selling your own digital products and services. This is where MiloTreeCart comes into play, offering a simple solution to set up memberships, digital downloads, workshops, coaching, and mini-courses in a snap.
And for our first thousand VIP customers, we're offering a lifetime deal at just $349 with no recurring fees. Plus, get a one-hour coaching call to strategize if you purchase by the end of January. Don't miss out on this chance to boost your income in 2024!

Megan and I discussed the importance of creativity in the food blogging space. With challenges like AI and changes in search algorithms, food bloggers must think outside the box to monetize and drive traffic. From ebooks to cooking classes, the possibilities are endless. Megan's mastermind group is already buzzing with innovative ideas, proving that creativity is key to staying ahead.
Leveraging Platforms Like PinterestDespite the frustrations many have with Pinterest, it remains a valuable platform for food bloggers. The visual nature of food content makes Pinterest a potential goldmine for traffic. Consistency and a long-term strategy are crucial, and if you notice a particular type of content performing well, such as videos, it's time to double down on that approach.
The Third-Party Cookie ConundrumThe removal of third-party cookies by Chrome in 2024 is a hot topic. While it may change how advertisers interact with ad networks, it's important not to approach this shift with fear. Instead, be curious and informed. Ad networks like Raptive are exploring new technologies to maintain ad relevance and value, ensuring that the right ads reach the right audience while respecting privacy.
Mindset MattersOne of the most powerful takeaways from our conversation is the significance of mindset. Rather than succumbing to fear about the future, embrace curiosity and excitement for the opportunities that change brings. AI, for instance, isn't something to be feared but a tool to be harnessed for idea generation, writing enhancement, and keyword research.
The Summit for Advanced Food BloggersMegan and her colleague Melissa are organizing a summit specifically for advanced food bloggers, creating a space for collaboration and support. Using MiloTree Cart, they've set up an effortless payment and sales page system for the event, showcasing the ease with which digital products and services can be offered.

Natasha, who is based in Hungary, was inspired by the podcast episode of Eat Blog Talk, where Jillian discussed with the host, Megan Porta, the ease of selling digital products. Natasha felt that as a blogger, she should have a digital product to sell.
Despite her limited time, Natasha quickly created an ebook by compiling her blog recipes and styling it using Canva. She kept it simple, with sixteen recipes and notes, and priced it at $9.
The Power of Niche and CommunityNatasha promoted her ebook to her Facebook group, which boasts over 22,000 members and is highly engaged due to its niche focus on gluten-free sourdough. She believes that the group's engagement has contributed to its rapid growth.
They discussed the importance of finding a niche and how it has contributed to Natasha's success. She shared her initial hesitation about narrowing down her focus to gluten-free baking, but ultimately found that it simplified her life and allowed her to become an expert in a specific area.
The Ebook SuccessInitially skeptical, Natasha was pleasantly surprised when people started buying the ebook. She also tried selling the ebook on her website, but most of the sales came from her Facebook group.
Exploring Other PlatformsNatasha reached out to Jillian for advice on other platforms to sell her ebook. She had heard about Gumroad but was concerned about the percentage they would take from her sales. After discovering that MiloTreeCart didn't take a cut from sales, Natasha became interested in our lifetime membership offer.

In my latest episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I delve into the transformative potential of selling digital products for bloggers and online entrepreneurs.
As the digital landscape evolves, there's a noticeable shift from merely driving traffic to fostering genuine relationships with your audience. This shift is crucial for encouraging people to buy from you and building loyalty.
In this episode, I introduce six powerful buying triggers that can elevate a product from being a "nice to have" to a "must have." By aligning your products with these triggers, you can tap into the underlying motivations that drive consumer purchases, making your offerings more appealing and compelling.

One of the most compelling triggers is the potential for a product to help customers make money. Products that teach users how to generate income or grow their wealth are inherently attractive.
For instance, a downloadable ebook that provides step-by-step strategies for monetizing a blog through affiliate marketing can be a game-changer. If a product can demonstrate a clear financial benefit, it shifts from being a luxury to a necessity.
Actionable Advice:- Create Value-Driven Content: Develop ebooks, courses, or webinars that offer actionable strategies for income generation.
- Showcase Success Stories: Use testimonials and case studies to highlight how your product has helped others achieve financial success.
- Offer Guarantees: Consider offering a money-back guarantee to reduce the perceived risk for potential buyers.
The second trigger revolves around products that help customers save money. In today's economy, many individuals are actively seeking ways to reduce their expenses.
If a product can show users how to cut costs effectively, it becomes highly valuable. Examples include budgeting workshops or meal planning guides that help families manage their finances better.
Actionable Advice:- Highlight Cost Savings: Clearly communicate how your product can help users save money in the long run.
- Provide Practical Tips: Offer practical, easy-to-implement tips that users can start using immediately.
- Bundle Offers: Create bundles that offer more value at a reduced price, making the purchase more attractive.
The third trigger is the ability of a product to save time. Time is a precious commodity, and busy individuals are often willing to pay for solutions that streamline their tasks. Products that offer time-saving solutions, such as template libraries for social media posts or automated email marketing systems, are particularly appealing to those who feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities.
Actionable Advice:- Emphasize Efficiency: Highlight how your product can simplify tasks and save users time.
- Offer Ready-Made Solutions: Provide templates, checklists, or automated tools that users can implement quickly.
- Demonstrate Time Savings: Use case studies or testimonials to show how much time users have saved by using your product.
The fourth trigger focuses on products that promise to enhance happiness or well-being. Many consumers are motivated by the desire for joy, fulfillment, or peace. Products that contribute to emotional or physical well-being, such as self-care memberships or digital journals promoting mindfulness, can create a strong emotional connection with potential buyers.
Actionable Advice:Create Emotional Connections: Use storytelling to connect with your audience on an emotional level. Promote Well-Being: Highlig...

👉 Grow your Email List Fast! Use These 3 AI Prompts to Create an Irresistible Freebie in 10 Minutes.👈
In this latest rebroadcast episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast, I dive into the evolving world of blogging and online entrepreneurship. With the rise of artificial intelligence, frequent changes to Google's algorithms, and a decline in revenue from traditional monetization methods, many bloggers are facing significant challenges.
However, here's a roadmap to success with five actionable strategies that can help you thrive in this new environment.
IntroductionThere have been substantial shifts in the blogging and online business. Many bloggers have reported drastic drops in traffic, with some experiencing declines of up to 80 or 90%. The key to overcoming these challenges, lies in two main areas: growing an audience and selling to that audience. If you have "1,000 true fans," and each fan spends $100 on your products or services in a year, you can generate $100,000 in revenue.

Here are the five essential strategies that bloggers and online entrepreneurs should implement to build a successful business without feeling overwhelmed:
1. Define Your NicheWhy It Matters:
- A well-defined niche helps you stand out in a crowded market.
- It allows you to communicate the specific problems you solve, attracting the right audience.
Actionable Tips:
- Avoid broad categories like "interior design" or "baking." Instead, narrow it down to something more specific, such as "interior design for small urban apartments" or "baking gluten-free desserts for busy parents."
- Clearly articulate your niche in your blog's tagline, about page, and social media profiles.
- Regularly revisit and refine your niche based on audience feedback and market trends.
Expert Insight:
- The more specific you are, the easier it is for your audience to understand what you offer and why they should follow you.
Why It Matters:
- A strong personal brand fosters trust and loyalty among your followers.
- It differentiates you from competitors and makes your content more relatable.
Actionable Tips:
- Consistently showcase your unique perspectives and how you can help your audience.
- Share personal stories and experiences, but always tie them back to how they benefit your audience.
- Use a consistent tone, style, and visual identity across all platforms.
Expert Insight:
- Your personal brand is your "vibe." Connect on a personal level while keeping the focus on improving your audience's lives.
Why It Matters:
- Relying solely on Google for traffic is no longer viable due to frequent algorithm changes.
- Diversifying traffic sources reduces risk and increases reach.
Actionable Tips:
- Explore alternative platforms like Pinterest and Instagram. Pinterest is great for driving blog traffic, while Instagram is effective for building a personal brand.
- Experiment with emerging platforms like Threads, but gather data to assess their effectiveness.
- Use keywords strategically across all platforms to ensure your content reaches the right audience.
Expert Insight:
- Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Diversifying your traffic sources can help you reach a broader audience and mitigate the impact of changes on any single platform.
Why It Matters:
- An email list is essential for building deep relationships with your audience and making sales.
- It provides a direct line of communication with your followers, independent of platform algorithms.
