Todd Tilghman is the lead pastor of Cornerstone Church in Meridian, Mississippi, the husband of his high-school sweetheart, Brooke, and the father of eight energetic children. Singing in church since he was eight years old, Todd finally took that gift to the national stage as the first contestant in the eighteenth season of The Voice. Kicking off the season with a “four-chair turn” blind audition, Todd continually wowed the judges and audiences alike with his soulful, spirited performances that culminated in winning the eighteenth season of The Voice.

This week Amy and Mike catch up with Sergio Cariello, illustrator of The Action Bible and Michelle Baird from Cook Publishing. Arriving this September, and updated version of The Action Bible will feature 25 new Bible stories and 23 expanded stories – all illustrated by Marvel and DC Comics artist Sergio Cariello.

The Action Bible family of products has more than 85 million units in print worldwide since it launched in 2010. The original The Action Bible has sold more than 2.3 million copies and has spent more than 515 weeks on the ECPA Top 50 bestseller list. It is available in 27 languages globally, with 10-15 additional language translations to be completed in 2020.

Sergio Cariello studied at the Word of Life Bible Institute (in Brazil and New York) as well as the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning (New York). He drew superheroes for Marvel and DC Comics and served as an instructor at the Kubert School. Sergio has spent more than a decade bringing the Bible to life for children and adults around the world.

“It’s been the privilege of my life to combine my faith and art in The Action Bible. I loved to study the Bible before I began drawing The Action Bible, so these illustrations are the result of a continuous walk with Christ,” explains Sergio Cariello. “Drawing Captain America or Batman is fantastic, but drawing Jesus is different because I know the Holy Spirit is touching readers’ hearts through my drawings.”

An interesting podcast this week as Mike and Amy catch up with Eugene Bach and talk mission work.

Eugene Bach is a pseudonym for a member of the Chinese underground church. He was trained in US military special operations and served two tours in the Persian Gulf and Asia-Pacific region, serving primarily as a member of a rapid response team focusing on targeted threat elimination, counterterrorism, and security. He has been working with the underground church in China for more than fifteen years, helping them to establish forward mission bases in closed countries around the world, including Iraq and Syria.

Eugene leads the Chinese mission movement called Back to Jerusalem, which provides essential support for Chinese missionaries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. He has also written or coauthored numerous books about the underground church in China, North Korea, and Iran, including ISIS: Heart of Terror, The Underground Church, and I Stand with Christ.
