Thought for December 29th. “…IN A SINGLE DAY … IN A SINGLE HOUR”
The Bible Channel - Discover the Bible. (By Christadelphianvideo.org)

As one debates in one’s thoughts the most likely way some of the symbolic language of Revelation is best understood there can be no doubt that today’s chapters (17 & 18) clearly portray the collapse of a great – and false – religious system. It is described as a ‘prostitute’ (AV – harlot).
“A “voice from heaven” [18 v.4,5] says, “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues ... God has remembered her iniquities”
The language is reminiscent of the O.T. prophecies about Israel being false to their God; yet God was remarkably patient (by human standards) over a long period before Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed.
A powerful unbiblical system has dominated the Christian scene down through the centuries and we reflected on the fact that a several of those turning to God in our own personal experience were active members of the R.C. church. I have met two who had been R C priests, at least one other who was a nun, and have heard of several others. God is patient, counting as “his people” those who “come out of her” when they commit to true belief.
Ch. 17 v.2 refers to “sexual immorality” and in the last few years the Church has been plagued by extensive evidence of pedophilia, about which they have at last been forced to admit and make apology. But celibacy is unnatural, and has no justification in Scripture; their alleged first Pope – Peter was married (Matt. 8 v.14)
BUT then – note – “her plagues will come in a single day ... for mighty is the Lord God who has judged her” [v.8] Even more than this, “in a single hour your judgment has come” [v.10] The collapse of the system is obviously very sudden.
The fact that the European Union was established by “the treaty of Rome” in March 1957 with evident involvement by the Vatican – and that they have embassies, howbeit small, in all major countries and that nations recognize and, up till now, respect – has to be taken as significant: many important people visit the Pope.
The Eurozone, is now financially very unstable, also the Vatican has recently had its financial scandals. But our world is now ‘a global village’! Is God soon to bring ‘plagues’ on those who worship ‘mammon’ (money – see Luke 16 v.11-13) A Euro collapse would undermine the USA’s financial struggles. The financial vision is, “The merchants of the earth weep ...since no one buys their cargo anymore ... for in a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.” [18 v.11,17] This all began with ‘the treaty of Rome.’
When God sees that the ingathering of true believers is complete – then the climax will take place – dramatically, suddenly – let us make sure we are part of that ingathering with our convictions and faith firm and strong..

God created... Darwinism still evolving... Who can we trust?

A @Christadelphians Video: Description: The bible account is reliable and trustworthy, it's unchanging and has passed the test of time... much evidence can be presented for its veracity. The theory of evolution on the other hand does not explain how non-living matter became living (abiogenesis)... its flounders in a sea of unprovable theories. Upon which of these two things do we put our trust?

A Christadelphian Video: The Christadelphians (; or Christadelphianism) are a restorationist and millenarian Christian group who hold a view of biblical unitarianism. There are approximately 70,000 Christadelphians in around 120 countries. The movement developed in the 1800's and their only authority is the inspired scriptures of Truth (The Bible Extant) they aim to follow it's teachings without compromise and this separates them from other Christian denominations, it is the belief that this is the same truth (same Gospel) that was preached to Abraham and subsequently by Christ and the apostles after christ's death and resurrection. They dismiss outright Heaven going (the exception being Christ himself but who will return (Acts 1:11), The Trinity, the Devil or Satan as a supernatural external force, Theistic evolution and evolution, Holy Spirt gifts and other mainstream doctrines held by popular Christianity. They do acknowledge a literal resurrection and judgement of the faithful dead upon Christ's return to the earth at the appointed time when Christ will establish God's Kingdom upon the earth after subduing the opposing religious and political nations (Armageddon). Thought for February 17th. “IN WHOSE HEART ARE THE HIGHWAYS TO …”
The Bible Channel - Discover the Bible. (By Christadelphianvideo.org)
02/17/25 • 4 min
Today we travel on highways, freeways and motorways. Different countries call them different names. These allow us to travel at speed to our destinations.
Our thoughts “raced” along these lines as we read Psalm 84 and the words he addressed to God, “Blessed are those whose strength is in you and in whose heart are the highways to Zion” [v.5] Let us all create a “highway” in our heart for godly thoughts and then the distractions of this godless world can be more easily brushed aside. The Psalmist continues, “They go from strength to strength, each one appears before God in Zion.” [v.7].
This is an exhilarating picture of strength that grows in those who have developed the right kind of highway in their hearts! They will reach a wonderful eternal destination, one beyond our imagining.
Sadly we see around us, more and more examples of those who have developed the wrong kind of highways in their hearts. Almost as bad are those who try to maintain two kind of highways! One makes more noise than the other – and so ends up getting more and more use!
We notice the humble ambition of the Psalmist. “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness” [v.10] Some, in their youth, have great ambitions for their lives, but sadly we hear and read too many examples of those who sacrifice principles and integrity in their efforts to achieve them. They will realize, probably too late, that their highway has really been directed toward Mammon instead of toward Zion.
But the Psalmist would rather be a doorkeeper! And what a privilege that would be! Imagine being a doorkeeper in God’s house of prayer for all nations (Mark 11 v.17) What experiences! What a privilege!
Finally, let us absorb the meaning of the words that are used to end this Psalm. “... the LORD is a sun and a shield; the LORD bestows favour and honour. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you.”
Can you feel the warmth of the Sun and the protection of the Shield the Lord provides? Let us feed constantly on his word, it will provide the motive force for our hearts as we head towards Zion – and how much more will this be needed as that destination gets closer – but the distractions greater! .

Thought for December 6th 'So We can confidently say'-

"SO WE CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY ...." Dec. 6
How many can speak with confidence these days? Certainly the Politicians can’t! Although they often try to sound that way. We read the last chapter of Hebrews today and Paul is emphasising to them the need to be positive in their attitude to the spiritual aspects of life. His first 4 words are, “Let brotherly love continue” That surely includes sisterly love too! It means love in a practical sense, not just words. John wrote, “let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth,” [1 Jn 3 v.18] There is a saying, ‘actions speak louder than words.’
Paul then says, “Remember those who are in prison, as those who are in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.” (of Christ) [v.3] As this world falls apart and becomes more dysfunctional these words will have more frequent application. Just a week ago, robbers with guns broke into a home where brethren hold their meetings and some lived and, as well as stealing money and valuables, sprayed bullets around injuring a father and 3 sons, one seriously. Other members rallied around to help, giving their blood for transfusions.
This happened in Pakistan, but the potential for similar incidents to happen in more and more countries is increasing with financial woes spreading and some countries (eg Spain) having half their young people unemployed. Now let’s look at v.5 & 6. “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper, I will not fear; what can man do to me?’ ” Where did he say this? Those words are from the prophet Haggai, giving a message to those living in difficult circumstances; we will read his message in a couple of weeks. Those who only read the New Testament are missing much powerful encouragement from their God.
Today’s chapter in Micah is a good example; it starts, “It shall come to pass in the latter days ... nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” [4 v.1,5] This is a description of God’s kingdom when it is fully functioning, those alive then will say, “Come let us go up to the mountain of the LORD ... that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths” [v.2]
Let us live today – and every day – so that we can, by faith, confidently say – we will be there.

Thought for June 25th. “MORNING BY MORNING”
The Bible Channel - Discover the Bible. (By Christadelphianvideo.org)

We do not know a great deal about Isaiah’s personal situation. In John’s Gospel we read that “Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him” [12 v.41], so the seeing was with the eye of faith, a vivid picture in the mind. Isaiah “saw” what was to come, believing with such total conviction that the experience was counted as seeing and John’s quotations from Isaiah are of the reactions, so largely negative, people were to have to God’s messages; this causes us to meditate on reactions today.
The more we ourselves read and reflect upon what we read, the more we are challenged. We meditated on this as a result of reading Isaiah’s words in today’s chapter, “The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those that are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious” [50 v.4,5].
It is a privilege each day to start by reading God’s word, to awaken our minds, refresh our thinking with godly thoughts before our minds need to focus on the challenges of the day, let us not be rebellious. This is, as we recall the in the words of James, “the wisdom that comes down from above” [3 v.15]. It gives us that inner strength and ability, not only to sustain us for another day, but also, it may well be, we may be used by our Lord by bringing us into contact with someone “who is weary” and we can impart to them some of the “strength” we have received from God’s word.
Now the passage in Isaiah goes on to record a situation which was fulfilled in the life of the Master at the time of his arrest; but it must, we suspect, have also been part of the prophet’s own experience, “I gave my back to those who strike ... I hid not my face from shame and spitting (see Mark 15 v.19) ...But the Lord GOD helps me ... therefore I have set my face like a flint ...” [Isaiah 50 v6,7].
Let us try harder to feed on God’s word “morning by morning” and experience all the benefits that he can give, setting our faces to serve him in whatever situations we encounter.
