About Me:
I grew up in rural Southeast Georgia; Effingham County borders the Savannah, Georgia area--and while it is now a rapidly growing community, decades ago it was farmland and a few gas stations.
My father passed away when I was 3 years old. My mother was pregnant with my sister at the time, and it made looking out for my little sister part of my DNA. From Effingham County, I moved to Savannah and started bartending downtown and working in beauty businesses--a makeup counter for example, and trying to figure out what my role in this world was. I became a mom and was doing my best to make ends meet and raise my son on my own.
When my sister had a skin cancer scare at 17 years old, that same protective mode from our childhood kicked in. I wanted to create a product that would help us still feel beautiful like the Georgia sunshine--without the potential damage and harm from UV rays. I didn't want to ever worry I would lose someone I loved because of our beauty habits!

So just like that, I went from country girl to bartending single mother, to hopeful entrepreneur... and it was really hard. I didn't have money to 'invest' and really none of my family was in a place to help me grow a business from the ground up. However, I pushed through every time I felt I couldn't 'make it' and now BEETTAN is not just a local favorite spray tan but is on its way to becoming a national brand.

My mantra for any woman with a niche or a skill or a trade hoping to bring it to the masses--you absolutely CAN and your motto every second of every day needs to be I WILL. Hard work pays off--even when no one seems to notice. I hope to keep helping women find themselves no matter their creative endeavors.

I love all the positivity exemplified in this podcast and hope the personal growth I have found through creating it translates to all my listeners.
