The AXELOS Best Practice Podcast

Knowledge Management” (KM) that most knowledge workers experience is often limited to a knowledge base tool (sometimes combined with a self-service portal). Or it might be an ancient repository of documents on a SharePoint site. To figure out how to improve this situation, we need to go back to basics, and answer the question “what IS KM, and why is it important?”

In this episode, Akshay is joined by Aprill Allen (Independent Consultant and Angel Investor, Twitter @knowledgebird), Jon Stevens-Hall (Principal Product Manager, BMC Software, Twitter @JonStevensHall) and Dave Snowden (Founder & Chief Scientific Officer, Cognitive Edge, Twitter @snowded). Together, they explore the challenges and benefits of investing in KM, why old models and approaches are no longer fit for purpose, and unlearning.

This episode also features a shoutout to Suresh GP (Managing Director, Taub Solutions, Twitter @sureshgp). Suresh is a very active member of the ITSM community in India and SE Asia. He also serves as a regional leader for the BRM institute, and as an Ambassador for the DevOps Institute.

Who watches the watchmen?

In this episode, AXELOS' Akshay Anand is reinterpreting the Latin watchmen quote “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?” and asks, who manages the managers? In modern business this is the field of governance, which to many practitioners is a necessary organizational component, while to others is the cause of numerous and often infuriating blockers. Akshay explores these contradictions and attempts to reconcile them with the help of Mark Thomas (President, Escoute Consulting) and Shane Carlson (Director of Enterprise Architecture, ServiceNow).
