Episode #34 Willow Koerber-Rockwell
The Average Watts Podcast
11/17/21 • 73 min
In Episode #33, I sit down with former UCI World Cup XC rider Willow Koerber-Rockwell. If you just entered the sport of mountain biking within the past 5 years you may ask yourself who is Willow Koerber-Rockwell? Well, she was one of the top XC riders for the Subaru Gary Fisher Team that then turned into Subaru Trek Factory Team. Willow finished 3rd in the 2009 and 2010 UCI World Championships and was 2nd OVERALL in the 2010 UCI XCO Series. She was also the FIRST female to reach the podium at a world cup, riding a 29er mountain bike. Remember, at that time in the sport of mountain biking, 29er's were still consider the ugly step child that no one wanted to invite to the party. I for one, thank Willow for kicking in the door and bringing the "wagon wheel" outcast to the party.
Following the 2010 season she took off to have her first child. In 2012 she came back to the world stage, but her priorities had changed and she couldn't fully commit to being both a mother and a pro mountain biker, so Willow walked away from the sport. She now lives in Colorado with her husband, Myles Rockwell (former UCI World DH Champion) and her two daughters.
Other notable results:
2005 - 3rd National XCO Championships
2007 - 3rd National XCO Championships
2009 - 2nd National XCO Championships
2010 - 3rd National XCO Championships
3x College National Champion

12/15/20 • 81 min
In E20, I chat with YouTube personality, Shane Miller aka GPLama. Shane is from Melbourne Australia and is known for his popular YouTube channel “GPLama”.

Episode #32 Matt Hawkins of Ridge Supply Socks
The Average Watts Podcast
10/15/21 • 63 min
In episode 32, I sit down with Matt Hawkins of "Ridge Supply Socks". On September 15, 2014 Matt was hit from behind by a pickup truck traveling at 55 mph while on a solo training ride. That accident put a bunch of things into perspective for him. Using the money that he was reimbursed for the pieces of kit lost in the accident, Matt invested those few hundred dollars in the first batch of Ridge Supply Socks....they sold worldwide quickly and his business was born.
The socks are designed to be bright and hyper visible using bio-motion technology that merges design with human intuition to help cyclists, runners & hikers be recognized by motorists. Matt believes there is more to bright socks than just color. Color Blocking & Gradient Colors with the Brightest Colors at the Cuff of the sock work well with Bio-Motion to catch the eye. Ridge Supply's goal is to make the function of bio-motion visibility meet the fashion of the best design & color ways.
The name RIDGE SUPPLY is named after Matt's first son, Ridge, and his home in the Blue Ridge mountains. The Blue Ridge is home to some of the best cycling terrain in the world. If you have been fortunate enough to take in that view or ride those roads and trails, it stays with you forever. Our Original SKYLINE sock is homage to those shades of Blue.
RIDGE SUPPLY is striving to produce the World’s Finest Socks & Accessories to help provide every customer with 100% satisfaction in the product experience.
