Was bedeutet „aller guten Dinge sind drei“?
Today, we talk about the German proverb “aller guten Dinge sind drei”. What does “aller guten Dinge sind drei” mean?
aller guten Dinge sind drei
the third time is the charm, all good things come in threes
SprichwortSprichwort Worttrennung
Hyphenation
al·ler gu·ten Din·ge sind drei
AussprachePronunciation

[1] Justification for something happening / trying for the third time
Origin
Ding was modified from Thing, a Germanic tribal and judicial assembly. The proverb refers to the meaning of the number three in the Germanic / medieval legal system. Three times a year, the court (Thing) was held. A defendant had to be summoned three times before being sentenced in absentia.
