The Animanicast- An Animaniacs Podcast - 67- Animanicast #67- Discussing "Miami Mama-Mia," "Pigeon on the Roof," and more!
play

12/17/17 • 71 min

Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the "Animanicast!" A podcast dedicated to the classic 90's cartoon show Animaniacs! Today's episode features the Goodfeathers visiting Pesto's mom in "Miami Mama-Mia" and a musical parody of "Fiddler on the Roof" entitled "Pigeon on the Roof."

Filler Segments

This episode has a lot of filler segments, but they're pretty darn good! A couple of Randy Beaman segments, a Mime Time, some Good Idea/Bad Ideas, and a Wheel of Morality are all discussed.

Miami Mama-Mia

The Goodfeathers visit Pesto's mom and are surprised to see she's getting married! Pesto disagrees with the idea so he spends the cartoon trying to give his soon-to-be step dad an "accident" but of course, Pesto is the only one that gets hurt.

The hosts discuss some of their favorite moments in this cartoon. Kelly talks about her love of the show "Sea Quest" since Bobby mentions it in the episode.

Pigeon on the Roof

The Goodfeathers perform a parody of "Fiddler on the Roof" in this cartoon. The Girlfeathers want to be "egg hatchers" so they try to convince the boys to marry them. There's a lot of singing and dancing, and in the end the Goodfeathers get engaged... or do they? There's also a leftover segment from "West Side Pigeons" put in here as well which confuses the plot a little more.

The hosts discuss their favorite moments and samples of the original "Fiddler on the Roof" are played to compare to the Goodfeathers.

It's up to Freakazoid to save the day and through some singing, fawning over girls, and slapstick! But what about the mysterious stranger who turns beavers into gold? What will he have to do with our narrative? Not much! This first main segment is bound to amuse and possibly confuse you!

Handman

Freakazoid has a new sidekick: Handman! Or is it just his hand? This hilarious segment starts off with some action and adventure and ends with an intimate love scene! A Pinky and the Brain Movie?

Thanks to an Instagram post from George Evangelista, there's been a lot of talk (and some confusion) about a possible Pinky and the Brain movie.

The fan art by is not official and is not part of any upcoming movie. However, this post did bring up some interesting revelations from Kirk Tingblad and Russell Calabrese who directed many episodes of the Pinky and the Brain series. The two revealed on Facebook that they had pitched a live action Pinky and the Brain movie to Jean MacCurdy in the 90s. The movie would involve the two mice turning into humans (played by Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen.) Nathan and Joey discuss this concept and whether or not they think it would have worked.

A Blast From Hipsville

The Warners are in San Francisco in the 1960s. The trio decides to visit a beatnik club so that Dot can recite some of her poetry. Unfortunately the beaniks find her poetry so square that they boo her off the stage. After finding out a way to make her poetry more miserable, the Warners go back so that Dot can talk about how awful life is! Yakko and Wakko soon realize that they've got to save Dot from spreading misery, after all, their contract forbids it!

The Mod Couple

The Brain comes up with a way to take over the world once again! This time, he will collect all the rubber from the world's go-go boots and create a humongous slingshot. He will then threaten to throw the Earth into the sun if the world does not submit to his rule. The two lab mice go off to a concert with the "Fab Four" so that they can steal as many go-go boots from the women dancing. Unfortunately their machine goes haywire and the two are unable to accomplish anything other than giving the "Fab Four" inspirational lyrics for music. If you're a Beatles fan, there's lots of references to their music!

The Animanicast- An Animaniacs Podcast - 19- Animanicast #19: "Meatballs or Consequences" and "A Moving Experience"
play

10/15/16 • 39 min

Each and every week, your hosts revisit an episode of the series in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find! Each episode is given a "Water Tower Rating" by the hosts. How many water towers will this episode get? This nineteenth episode first features the Warners going toe to toe with Death and then we learn how the Hip Hippos moved from the jungle to the city.

Meatballs or Consequences
  • Wakko is in an meatball eating contest. Unfortunately he dies when he eats one meatball too many. Yakko and Dot don't want to be separated from their brother so they follow Wakko to the underworld. They then spend the rest of the episode driving Death crazy!
  • This episode features some great jokes and salutes to filmaker Ingmar Bergman. It also features one of Kelly's favorite sayings, "How Spielbergian!"
  • As usual we make connections to other movies and franchises in our conversation. "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "The Force Awakens", "The Exorcist", "The Princess Bride", "Back to the Future" and even "Masters of the Universe" are all mentioned.
Dot's Poetry Corner
  • Next, Dot gets groovy with her first poem about Little Miss Muffet.
A Moving Experience
  • Finally, we are treated to a prequel of sorts. How did the Hip Hippos end up in the city? Gina Embryo (a parody of Joan Embery) tries in vain to keep them in the jungle.

Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the "Animanicast!" A podcast dedicated to the classic 90's cartoon show Animaniacs! Today we get to talk about an episode all about us, the fans! Whether we're chasing down our heroes at comic con like in "A Hard Days Warners," geeking out to movie scenes like Skippy does in "Gimme a Break," our just nitpicking everything from previous episodes like in "Please, Please, Please Get A Life Foundation," there’s a segment for each of us. Plus, Animaniacs creator Tom Ruegger stops by to tell us about the upcoming Freak-A-Con, a virtual convention for Freakazoid fans!

Freak-A-Con

Special guest, Tom Ruegger stops by quickly to let us know about the upcoming event on March 15th, The Freak-A-Con! The Freak-A-Con is a virtual convention that will take place LIVE on Facebook on March 15th at 5:00 PM PST. The event will focus on how Freakazoid was developed and will feature Paul Rugg, Paul Dini, Joe Leahy and music from Steve and Julie Bernstein! All from a very glamorous venue! Make sure to like the Freak-A-Con on Facebook, and submit your video questions and even a video showing why you should be the next Fan-Boy or Fan-Girl! https://www.facebook.com/FreakACon/

A Hard Days Warners

The Warners are bigger than Jesus, or rather just as big as the Beatles, in this parody of the Beatles classic movie, A Hard Day’s Night. We even get two Beatles parody songs as the Warners try to escape their relentless fans at the cartoon convention, only to be saved at the last minute by a cameo from none other than former castmates, Pinky and The Brain. Nathan, Kelly, and Joey discuss their experience with the Beatles movies, comic-cons in general, and about the moral of Beauty and the Beast, as they try to stay on topic of the Animaniacs.

Gimme a Break

Slappy needs a break, and is excited to start her long awaited vacation from violence. Unfortunately, Skippy is excited to see all the MEGA stars in their MEGA action films, and drags Slappy along. Somehow, Slappy ends up being directly involved in about a dozen different classic 90’s action films, each time getting great praise from Skippy, until even Skippy has to admit that Slappy needs a vacation. Joey, Nathan, and Kelly talk about as many different celebrity caricatures and movie references as possible and about each of their favorite moments and gags from the cartoon.

Please Please Please Get a Life Foundation

The Warners may be giving us what we may need most... a life. This meta cartoon is all about those fans that sincerely care about all the trivial facts that Animaniacs has to offer, (pretty much all the things we talk about in this podcast...) but the Warners are here to help! Any fan who gets a little too obsessed is brought back to reality with a nice blow to the head with a mallet, and if that doesn’t work, we get to see our favorite parody dinosaur, Baloney! This segment definitely hits a little too close to home for the hosts, but at least Kelly gets to talk about a Spielberg reference.
