Why did you start this show?
I was having some FOMO watching my brother Matt and friend Alison having so much fun with their podcast, ADHd20 (where they explore the intersection of ADHD and TTRPGs). So, I asked my friend Fitz if they'd like to make a show featuring D&D characters we'd created.
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
I hope listeners get a good laugh, an escape into a quirky and heartfelt world, and maybe a reminder that even the most ridiculous adventures can have meaning. It’s about having fun and feeling like part of the crew. We're aiming for Scooby Doo vibes meets TTRPGs.
Which episode should someone start with?
It's a serial format so start with Ep 1. But stick with it at least through ep 4—that's where things start popping off. Eps 1-3 are a little slower pace, a little more Welcome to Nightvale-y.
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
Definitely Episodes 4 and 9. Episode 4 nails the scripted storytelling vibe, while Episode 9 captures the chaos and fun of the actual play format.
Which episode are you most proud of?
Episode 9. When we started this project I knew absolutely nothing about sound design. By the time we got to the season finale I'd grown a lot and it really came together in that one.
What is your vision for your show?
We want The Adventures of Bud & Herb to be a mix of lighthearted fun and meaningful storytelling—something that grows a dedicated community of listeners who laugh, cheer, and maybe cry along with us. Ultimately, it’s about creating a world people love coming back to. We also strive to do something different than scripted, fantasy podcasts and actual play podcasts by blending both formats together in one season.
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
I’m a big fan of Radio Rental. I'm a sucker for true horror/creepy stories. The sound design is great and Terry Carnation... say no more.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
Bud and Herb are the main characters, and they’re on an adventure. :)

I’m Evan, a creative nerd with a love for tabletop RPGs, storytelling, and podcasting. I co-created The Adventures of Bud & Herb to bring quirky characters and heartfelt adventures to life, and I’m lucky enough to collaborate with an amazing team. When I’m not working on the podcast, I’m probably geeking out over pop culture or exploring ways to grow the TTRPG community.
