Today’s guest is Sean Bedford, who played football at Georgia Tech from 2006–2010 and is now the color analyst on their radio broadcasts. Sean started his career as a walk-on, and by the end of it, he was the starting center, First Team All-ACC, and won the inaugural Burlsworth Trophy, given to the most outstanding player in the country to start their career as a walk-on. In 2010, Sporting News named him one of the 20 smartest athletes for graduating from the no. 4 aerospace engineering program in the country, and since then all he’s done is play a year of professional football in Spain, get his law degree from the University of Florida, practice law while broadcasting football games, get married and have a son.
Sean and I discussed how he ended up at Georgia Tech, how he went from walk-on Defensive End to First Team All-ACC Center, playing for Chan Gailey and Paul Johnson, eating enough to gain 50 pounds, his favorite stories from his playing days (including the 2008 win at Georgia), how international wifi almost cost him a chance at the color analyst job, and a lot more.
