That Projector Life - 195. Understanding the Creative Cycle in Human Design
play

10/11/23 • 35 min

We're exploring the creative cycle, what it looks like, and how it shows up throughout the Human Design chart. (Notice that we're using the word "cycle" instead of "process" - that's going to be a big thing in this episode.) The creative cycle is a mysterious, sometimes frustrating thing to deal with. However, we'll explore the mechanics of it with some help from the Gene Keys system.

We'll dive into Gates 1 and 2 (a.k.a. Gene Keys 1 and 2) to talk about how and where they contribute to the creative cycle. Then, we'll look at how the creative cycle itself shows up in our lives - and what to do when we're in the shadow or winter part of it. (The answer here likely isn't going to be what you expect.) Finally, we'll zoom out and look at the Human Design chart to explore how creativity shines through the different centers.

And we'll hammer home the idea that inconsistency is ok - and it's actually how the centers work. (Not even the Sacral center is going to be on all the time. It also needs to rest.) Even if you don't feel like a creative soul, give this episode a listen - because I promise the creative cycle shows up in your life. You just may not be aware of it yet.

That Projector Life - 202. How the Tribe Works in Human Design
play

03/13/24 • 43 min

In this episode, we explore the energy of the Tribe, the Tribal channels, and how they all work together to fulfill the Tribe's purpose: resources and survival. We'll start out by situating the Tribe in the larger picture of humanity as a whole and talk about the Tribe's purpose as it relates to the rest of the world.

Then we'll move into each of the Tribal channels and place its energy in the larger story of how the Tribe itself functions. The channels play off of and support each other, and we'll trace the paths of the Ego Circuit and Defense Circuit as we explore the Tribe's energy.

Finally, we'll spend some time talking about the highest expression of Tribal energy as well as the lowest expression of Tribal energy, touching on how and where the Tribe grapples with the not-self. The not-self is something definitely worth exploring, as we see a lot of Tribal not-self show up in our world.

Ready to dive into the inner workings of the Tribe? Listen to the episode!

That Projector Life - 192. Does Your Chart Have a Weakness?
play

09/06/23 • 24 min

In this episode of That Projector Life, we're diving into the idea of a chart "weakness" becuase it's something I hear a lot when talking to people about Human Design. Often, people want to know what their strengths and weaknesses are, and that's understandable. However, we're going to reframe the idea of weakness in this episode.

We'll answer the question of whether or not your chart has a weakness and what you can do about it. (Spoiler alert: I don't think chart weakness exists, and we'll talk about why in this episode.) We'll also talk about how to reframe a perceived weakness and how you can turn it into a strength (or at least begin to be ok with it).

Fair warning: I'm very passionate about this topic, so expect some emphatic speeches in this episode. Ready to dive into your "weakness"? Join me and listen to the episode!

That Projector Life - 193. 5 Things to Do When You Dislike Your Design
play

09/13/23 • 32 min

Have you been trying - and failing - to connect with your Human Design? Are you sometimes frustrated - or angry - with your design? How about just plain disliking it? In this episode, we'll address all of those feelings and go through some action steps you can take to begin to connect with your design.

It's important to note that not everyone connects with their design instantly. For some people, it can be a struggle to see themselves in their design. And it can feel rather lonely when you're feeling frustrated with your design while watching other people fall in love with theirs. While these action steps may not help you change your perception or feelings toward your chart overnight, they'll hopefully give you a place to start if you're ready to connect with your chart.

Ultimately, the biggest thing to keep in mind is to give yourself time and space to feel and process what you need to. If you feel like you're forcing things by doing this work, then take a step back and return at a later time. It's ok to take space if things aren't feeling correct. If you're ready to dive in, listen to the episode!

That Projector Life - 194. How to Release the Fear of Being Seen
play

09/27/23 • 38 min

Projectors need recognition. However, if we choose to conceal our true selves, it becomes more challenging for the right people to notice us. That’s why in this episode, we’re talking about the fear of being seen.

I share a bit about my personal journey, and I guide you through a step-by-step process to set yourself up for recognition. We cover identifying what you want, what’s stopping you from getting there, releasing your fears, and shifting your energy into alignment.

We also dive into the not-self, deconditioning the not-self, and embracing your unique energy. Ready to get deep? Listen to the episode!

That Projector Life - 205. How to Handle Inspiration (or a Lack of It)
play

05/01/24 • 37 min

In this episode of That Projector Life, we're looking at inspiration and the difference between mental inspiration and energetic inspiration. Have you ever felt like you have all the ideas - that everything is inspiring? Or maybe you've found that nothing is inspiring. You have no mental energy to pursue anything.

I'd like to introduce you to the Head Center and mental inspiration. It's a necessity in life - it's what's given us so many great ideas to run with. However, mental inspiration can be a fickle mistress, especially when you have an undefined Head Center (and I am definitely speaking from personal experience here).

So how do you handle mental inspiration (or a lack of it, since that's what you'll likely have after deconditioning the Head Center)? What can you do to remain inspired while still being in your own energy? This is where energetic inspiration comes in. It's tuning into your energy to allow your centers and channels to do their thing.

Ready to explore this inspiration? Listen to the episode!

That Projector Life - 175. Exploring Your Authority Wound
play

03/15/23 • 44 min

Are you struggling to connect with and really appreciate your authority? It could be that you're facing what I call your Authority Wound. This is something I've reflected on for a while now, based on my experiences and the experiences of other Projectors.

It seems that we all carry with us some kind of wounding message that prohibits us from really accessing and appreciating our authority. We all hear similar messages, but I suspect that our Authority Wound is the message that sticks with us the most - because it's so deeply hurtful. Our Authority Wound serves to disconnect us from our authority - to shame us for following it - and to ultimately give our power away to others.

Each authority has a different wounding message - and a different wound to work through. Ready to discover yours? Listen in to the episode.

That Projector Life - 176. The Importance of Speaking Correctly
play

03/29/23 • 32 min

There is so much pressure in our society to just talk - to say anything - even if you have nothing to say. How are Projectors supposed to navigate a conversation and speak correctly? Is there even a hard-and-fast rule that we can follow? (Spoiler alert: Only if you consider "Follow your authority" a rule).

In this episode, we'll talk about our society's obsession with making noise and how we can begin to step back from the fray and observe it more. We'll also cover how Projectors can speak correctly by following our strategy and authority. Though we'll also look at the messy situations that don't allow us to easily follow that suggestion (because sometimes life happens).

My challenge to you - and me - after this episode is to be ok with sitting in silence and to practice watching what is said. Mindful speaking is something that I'm reflecting on, and I invite you to join me in this experiment by listening to the episode.

That Projector Life - 198. How to Recognize Yourself
play

01/10/24 • 29 min

We're kicking off 2024 with an episode all about recognizing yourself. I often get asked how Projectors can encourage others to recognize them (and we talk about this question and its rather difficult answer in this episode). But I rarely (until just recently) get asked how Projectors can recognize themselves.

So we're taking a dive into Projector recognition from the perspective of the self - as in recognizing yourself. Because Projectors can definitely recognize themselves, and I certainly encourage Projectors to do so. (I mean, if you don't recognize yourself, can you really live your design?)

We'll talk about what it mean to recognize yourself, what that looks like, and how you can go about actually recognizing your energy. And keep in mind that this journey is highly personal, and how you feel recognized may differ from how I feel recognized. I do offer two different examples from my own experience recently of how I was able to recognize myself - in both a joyful situation and a more melancholic one.

So listen into the episode and let me know your thoughts. I would love to hear what recognizing yourself looks like for you!
