Hello and welcome to another episode of the Simon Show Testing Peers Podcast.
In this episode, the Peers talk about dream jobs.
Before we dive into the main topic, we talk about when we have treated ourselves to dream gifts.
From Back to the Future Lego, PlayStations, greenhouses, AC Cobras and coffee machines!
We begin talking about what our dream jobs were as children and then move on to what our dream jobs might be today.
The Peers even play with ideas down the line of a Testing Peers consultancy, or even our own conference "PeersCon".
The discussion moves on to cover our favourite parts of our current roles, we discuss key motivators and how the pandemic has changed things.
We mention Cassandra Leung's blog post 'The George Foreman Heuristic for Quality'.
The shape of what makes a dream job, it transpires, is more about people, culture, the product, the ability to have an impact and the aligning of the company's values to yours.
Side note – two of the Peers have recently moved into new houses and have had a few issues with their setups, we apologise for any audio issues that may have arisen in this episode.
Thank you for listening. Please do get in touch if you would like to know more or would like to give us feedback to help us improve and grow.

Coaching Testing
Hello and welcome back for another episode of the Testing Peers podcast!
In this episode, the Peers will be discussing coaching testing.
We take a look at coaching credentials outside of our work lives and then dive into defining what coaching is and what it isn't.
Chris mentions a sketchnote made at TestBash 2017, in a coaching workshop with Toby Sinclair and Amy Phillips - read more here.
We explore the following the questions:
- do you need to have experience at the craft to coach it?
- who is responsible for coaching?
- does it always have to be a leader or manager that is the coach?
- is quality coaching the future in our craft?
The Peers then share ideas of where we can go to learn coaching skills and we share some tips.
Special shoutouts made to:
- Aspire Leadership
- Agile Coaching by Rachel Davies & Liz Sedley
- Unlocking Potential: 7 Coaching Skills That Transform Individuals, Teams, and Organizations by Michael K Simpson
- Barefoot Coaching

Christmas Dinner MVP
Season's greetings from the Testing Peers!
As with last year we tapped into our 'great' creative minds to find a Christmas-themed episode that somehow is loosely associated with software quality.
The Christmas Dinner.
Can six friends reach a consensus to create a Christmas Dinner MVP (minimum viable product)?
For this year's episode, the four regular Peers are joined once more by our good friends Shey Crompton & Beth Marshall.
As with last year, we asked our guests to nominate a charity for us to donate to this Christmas. Both Shey and Beth nominated the great Ady Stokes' Movember.
Beth breaks the ice, introducing the topic of Christmas comedy specials, before Simon leads us to the MetroRetro board he created for the main event.
The rules of the event are that we are planning Christmas dinner, as the six of us.
The MetroRetro board has five sections to it: Setting, Starter, Main Course, Puddings & Drinks
Join us as we progress through the episode we greatly model the art of collaboration and good humour, while whiteboarding together.
Once again a great thanks to Beth & Shey for their willing participation.
An extra special thanks to all of you lovely listeners, we thank you for your feedback and interaction, and we wish you a wonderful festive time, we hope that you are safe and well.
