Tech For Work by TABGEEKS (formerly Workspace Recap)
08/03/21 • 41 min
Google adds another PWA to its arsenal, introducing Google Meet PWA! Course, as far as we can tell it's the same as the web version, just in a PWA. I really wanted to see them add the sidebar, but maybe that is still coming. We are going to look for someone at Google to be a guest on the show and explain the advantages of a PWA other than a nice icon on your Dock/Taskbar. Stay tuned!

S2E14: Markdown enabled on Docs! Improved announcements for Braille Comments on Docs, Assistive writing in docs, Client Side encryption is now GA in Drive and Editors, Update To GSuite Legacy Free!
Tech For Work by TABGEEKS (formerly Workspace Recap)
04/05/22 • 52 min
Apologies for my feed about 20 minutes into the show, our recording environment suffered an issue that caused the rest of my feed to be lost. Luckily I was able to resurrect it from a Live Feed Recording, but the quality is slightly degraded, especially on the video.
UPDATE on GSuite Legacy Free Edition! Google has issued an update stating there will be a new no cost version, but it will be single user only and won't include branded email. This is just to be able to maintain your purchased items etc. This is not the update we were hoping for, however there is a bit of good news here. The no cost version is not ready yet, and the way you gain access is to join the waitlist via a banner in the Admin Panel, which will allow you to use GSuite Legacy Free until the no cost version is ready, and then you can upgrade to full Workspace if you want to.

S2 Special LIVE Edition: G Suite Legacy Free Shutdown - What should you do about it? What is Google doing about it?
Tech For Work by TABGEEKS (formerly Workspace Recap)
02/04/22 • 82 min
Google Workspace has made the decision to stop offering G Suite Legacy Free to the grandfathered in users who have been using it for many years now. This was likely an attempt by Google to recoup the lost money from businesses getting away with not paying for a decade, and bring them on to the updated Google Workspace paid plans. What they did not anticipate, was angering their most loyal customer base, us admins who have been using Google Apps from the very beginning. We have added our family members, have over a decade of email history on our accounts, and have purchased content on the various services offered by Google using these accounts.
Listen as we discussed with Workspace experts the impact of this decision, Google's response and general surprise at the backlash, as well as a possible new offering for a Google Workspace Family Plan, and downgrade options.

S2E18: Enhanced menus in Docs, Updated Storage Management tools in Admin Console, Warning banners alert users of suspicious Editors files on web, and more
Tech For Work by TABGEEKS (formerly Workspace Recap)
05/03/22 • 54 min
I had a great time at the Google Events in LA and Irvine, the LA office is in the old Spruce Goose hanger, the former home to Howard Hughes wooden aircraft that was an engineering marvel, except for the part where it only flew once. It was 6 times larger than any aircraft built at the time in 1947 with a hanger just as large. They literally built a building inside the hanger, incorporating all the style and history, and that is the Google LA Office! Also.... I mayyyy have had a conversation or two about doing a Google Workspace Focused event at the Spruce Goose office in LA, so! Stay tuned for more on that as it evolves.
