This week, Dave Wescott and Scott Calentine talk with special guest, Amanda Joyce, a local Washington beekeeper. Amanda is a beekeeper and the proud owner of HoneyLux Honey. Her passion for beekeeping began as a hobby in 2018 and quickly turned into a fascination with every aspect of bees and honey. In 2020, she turned her hobby into a business and established HoneyLux. At present, Amanda manages approximately 10-20 bee colonies. She sells the raw, unpasteurized honey and wax her bees produce both online and in select local markets. Amanda is pursuing a degree in counseling psychology and aims to integrate beekeeping into her future counseling practice.

This week, Dave Wescott and Scott Calentine were able to talk with the wonderful Charlotte Wiggins. Charlotte Ekker Wiggins is an award-winning author, blogger, Certified Master Beekeeper and Master Gardener Emeritus. She has been keeping honey bees for 15 years and gardening ever since she can remember. Her one-acre Missouri limestone hillside garden, where her neighbors said nothing would grow, is now a working apiary, certified wildlife garden and Monarch Way Station. Charlotte is a wealth of knowledge about bees and many things, she is well worth listening to!

In this episode we tap into Peter's wealth of knowledge and experiece in beekeeping and starting a beekeeping company. Peter Nolte has been keeping bees in the Greater Seattle area since 2011, working in urban and rural areas as the owner and head beekeeper of Rainy Day Bees. This variety of locales and over 150 beehives gives him a unique perspective on beekeeping in the Puget Sound region, and he loves sharing his experience with both new and experienced beekeepers through classes and conversations.
