this episode is dedicated to the memory of tai’s brother ben.
now although i had met tai a few times over the years (as his wife and Angela were friends) it was not until a few weeks prior to recording this podcast that we said more than a casual ‘hello’ to each other. it was during that conversation that tai told me of ben’s life.
his life reminiscent of a hollywood redemption story, but with a tragic end, and how the family chose to deal with aftermath. i am incredibly grateful to tai for being so open and willing to share ben’s story with us. a story that is an incredible reminder that we never truly know the battles others face.

DeHaven (1969 - 2019)
this episode is dedicated to the memory of arif’s bandmate, and one of his very best friends, DeHaven.
after more than twenty years of creating music together, touring the world, and sharing all of life’s milestone moments the way real families do, DeHaven was taken at the age of 49.
a huge thank you to arif for sharing DeHaven’s story with us only weeks after his death, as well as for sharing his own answer to one of death’s hardest questions, “how do i continue on without them?”

Patrick (2016 - 2016)
this episode is dedicated to the memory of renee’s son Patrick.
while ever death is different, and nearly every one will say that their loved one was taken too soon, that they had more life to live. this is especially true when speaking about the death of someone young and is never more true than with Patrick.
as someone who will never experience the death of my own child this conversation touched me in a way others have not and for that i am eternally grateful to renee for sharing her story and Patrick with us. a story of how death can interrupt our dreams and plans for a future leaving behind a reality of doubt, guilt and isolation but also a story that should remind us all that love cannot be measured in units of time.
