This week's episode I speak with my guest Montigus Jackson, LMHC about black men and therapy, the past, the importance of a father, and blended families.
Montigus Jackson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in adolescents and adults for individual, couples, and family therapy. He is serving Palm Beach County and maintains his private practice, Starting Pointe Counseling Services, in Royal Palm Beach, FL. With almost a decade of experience in the mental health, substance abuse, and social service fields, he is experienced in many areas which include relationship issues, at-risk youth, emotional disturbances (depression and anxiety), and substance addictions.
Montigus began to venture into public speaking events starting later in 2015 at the Palm Beach County Library. Here he analyzed one of the most watched TED Talk - Dan Gilbert’s ‘Why We Make Bad Decisions’ in order to foster group discussion and analysis on the driving forces behind our decision making. Montigus was recently featured in an article in the Huffington Post titled “15 Black Male Therapists You Should Know”. In addition, he served as an expert mental health contributor for an article on Bussle.com, “11 Things To Never Say To Someone Who Has Anxiety”. Montigus is passionate about the field of mental health and hopes to empower, educate and build awareness!
Montigus is an interactive therapist using an eclectic approach to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.
