D-Line Prospects Bills Fans Should Get Familiar With
Explicit content warning
03/31/25 • 36 min
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses several of the top and second tier defensive lineman prospects that Buffalo Bills fans should definitely start familiarizing themselves with before the NFL Draft a handful of weeks from now.
There’s several reasons the Bills will be picking defensive line early and perhaps often in this draft. Between the looming six game suspensions of new free agent signees Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi, the expected ease with snaps early on with Joey Bosa and the fact several prominent lineman are in the final year of their deals (Bosa, Ogunjobi, Daquan Jones, AJ Epenesa) there’s both immediate and long term needs there.
Patrick goes over a lot of the top prospects at both edge and defensive tackle. James Pearce Jr. feels like a guy he thinks fans should keep an eye on at edge and wonders if Brandon Beane has the guts to take a chance with Mike Green while he’d be tickled pink to see Buffalo take Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant at defensive tackle with their first pick.
He also shares his thoughts on Christian Benford’s new contract, the incredible in-house offseason has put together and comments from the Bills GM that makes it sound like James Cook get a contract extension anytime soon is extremely far fetched. That plus show mixups and plenty more.
Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it’s a great place to drink and have a great time.

How Much Can Bills Still Add To D-Line, Plus Some Sabres Optimism?
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to discuss how much more the Buffalo Bills can still add to their defensive line given their unique situation as well as some actual reasons for optimism for the Buffalo Sabres.
Brandon Beane and his Bills find themselves in a bit of a bind. New additions Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi are both suspended for the first six games but when they return for Week seven, if the unit stays healthy they could find themselves as part of at least nine defensive lineman already on the active roster. Of course, that’s before next month’s NFL draft, where Beane’s almost certain to add more talent via rookie picks. The guys discuss how much may end up being too much and if there’s going to be two rookies as high picks on the roster, who can end up being the odd man out, again muddled up by the suspension of two guys who’ll miss a third of the season.
Sticking with the Bills the guys also discuss how they’re feeling about a month out from the draft in terms of what Beane may (or may not) have up his sleeve. Do Patrick or Chris sense a big Beane move coming? They also spend a few talking about the offense including who’s more important to their 2025 success— Dalton Kincaid or Keon Coleman.
Turning over to the Sabres, they continue to be bottom feeders in the NHL but for today at least, the guys are discussing some of the reasons for optimism beyond Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin. Chris talks about what he’s seen and liked from players such as JJ Peterka, Ryan McLeod, Jason Zucker and Alex Tuch. That and plenty more!

Who Would You Trade Josh Allen For If Forced To (Entertainment Purposes Only!)
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss a variety of serious and unserious Buffalo Bills topics, including an outlandish scenario where the NFL forced the Bills to trade Josh Allen to another team for another player.
Let’s be really clear, the Bills will almost certainly never trade Josh Allen and there’s a zero percent chance it would happen anytime soon. That doesn’t stop the guys from having a little fun responding a question from the listener, who wants to know if the Bills absolutely had to trade Allen right now, who would be the player they’d make a one for one swap with, featuring an added caveat that the player couldn’t be Patrick Mahomes.
Sticking with silly, Patrick and Joe both have thoughts about it being revealed the Bills will be the subject of a Christmas movie coming this year on the Hallmark Channel — Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story. It follows the same concept with the Kansas City Chiefs last year and Patrick goes over some of the funnier potential plotlines he’s seen on social media, asking Joe to give a grade for each along with a few plotlines of their own.
On the more serious side, Christian Benford became the latest young Bills start to sign an extension over the weekend and there’s plenty of thoughts on it. That plus the NFL owners meetings, some poignant comments that make it seem like James Cook won’t be getting an extension anytime soon if at all, and plenty more.
