It's a summer triple threat here on the Talkin' TV Podcast! Luk is back to discuss an interesting triple threat, as they all encompass where we're at as a media viewing society right now. First up is Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment in the Bad Boys saga once again directed by Adil & Bilal who up their action filmmaking game in an effort that sees Mike (Will Smith) and Markus (Martin Lawrence) have to go on the run after uncovering corruption in their department. Then they talk about the Acolyte, the latest Disney+ Star Wars effort from Leslye Headland starring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung Jae, Dafne Keene, Jodie Turner Smith, Charlie Bartlett, Manny Jacinto & Carrie Anne Moss. Finally, they talk about Hit Man, the latest effort from Richard Linklater and Netflix which stars Glen Powell as a college professor who moonlights as an FBI agent who poses as a hitman to entrap people but ends up getting a little too invested in it. And we're back! After a much needed week of rest and relaxation, we're back with the next season of Talkin' Thrones! And we're kicking it off with the breakdown of Season 2, which aired all the way back in April of 2012, entitled the North Remembers! As the title suggests, the North does indeed remember the injustice done to it last season, as the realm has officially fallen into war. A great comet floats across the sky and it means something different to everyone. Dome & Pat break down all the plot details of what this premiere sets up for this season and beyond, as well as how this set the stage for Game of Thrones season premieres going forward. Their focus character for today is one of the many new characters we're introduced to here, Stannis Baratheon, Robert's third brother who is the rightful heir to the Throne and is coming for it. Be sure to keep tuning into new episodes of Talkin' Thrones each and every single week, only on the #talkintvpodcast channel!

It's a horror filled weekend as Dom is joined once again by Sean of Math Teacher Movies to break down the latest film from auteur Ari Aster, the disturbed mind behind "Hereditary" & "Midsommar," his third feature film, Beau is Afraid. An Odyssean, Lynchian journey centered around Joaquin Phoenix's character Beau, who is attempting to avoid the mass amount of crazy people surrounding his apartment who takes a lot of medication for his perceived anxiety to get to his mother's (Patti LuPone) funeral. He ends up getting kidnapped by a suburban couple (Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan) who are attempting to use him to replace their son who died; a forest theater troupe that shows him his potential future; reunites with a former crush (Parker Posey) before going through one of the most bonkers climaxes of all time. It's a whirlwind of emotions and events that is all a representation of Ari's inner anxiety and insecurity, not to mention it sours by at 3 hours. They also take a minute to talk about Evil Dead Rise, the latest installment in the Evil Dead franchise, which is just as bloody and disgusting as the last few. It's all covered here on the #talkintvpodcast as they get closer to the summer!

Well, to quote a certain song, The Boys are indeed back in town. Dustin "The Duster" Mason makes his return to the show to talk about one of his & Dom's absolute favorite shows, Amazon's The Boys! As one of the only shows that we as viewing audiences were graced with during the pandemic, we were forced to patiently wait two years for the return of the third season, but since 2022 is the year that keeps on giving in terms of peak TV, The Boys follows up a series of returning shows that are coming back after roughly between a two to four year wait, with Ozark, Atlanta, Stranger Things, Barry & Better Call Saul all coming back this year. Based of the Garth Ennis comic book series of the same name and show run by Eric Kripke, the Boys covers a group of off the books black ops-esque crew that seeks to destabilize and take down the various and assorted superheroes, who are primarily all depicted as egotistical, narcissic, mentally unstable people who cause vast amounts of collateral damage and are constantly protected by the evil conglomerate company, Vought. Featuring returning players Karl Urban as Butcher, Antony Starr as Homelander, Jack Quaid as Hugh Campbell, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Jesse T. Usher as A-Train, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir and introducing Supernatural alumni Jensen Ackles as a new addition Soldier Boy, the show returns with all the satire and violence that we loved about the first two seasons, and potentially a way to take down Homelander. It's a whole new season to kick off the summer season of television and we're covering it all right here on the #talkintvpodcast

The Russo Bros return with Drama! | Cherry Review & Recap

#cherry #cherrymovie #tomholland #tomhollandcherry #appleetv #appletvmovie #cherrymoviereview #cherryreview #russobros #russobrosmovie

On today's episode of the Talkin' TV podcast, we covered Cherry, the new film from Apple TV+ and Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony & Joe Russo! The two have had an interesting career, getting their start in the late '90s when their short was noticed by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney, who helped them get their first feature Welcome to Collinwood off the ground. After a stumbling block and a comedy that nobody remembers called You, Me & Dupree, the two of them effectively got off to revolutionizing TV with shows like Arrested Development and Community before their Marvel track began. With their first feature effort post Endgame, the two decided to go in a very personal direction by adapting Nico Walker's book about life post the military that was riddled with heroin addiction. Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo star as a couple who find themselves going through the pitfalls of late adolescence and transitioning into early adulthood, and tackles an area and a class of people that the country has largely forgotten about. Dom and Chris tackle all these and more, including whether the Russos first effort post Endgame really demonstrated their talents effectively, as well as whether some of the more heart-wrenching parts of the movie made up for some of the more problematic elements. It's all covered here on Talkin' TV!!!

play

04/01/24 • 52 min

We're wrapping up March Madness with some madness of our own, that being the next installment in the Monsterverse series, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The last time we saw these two titans, they were battling it out for dominance. Now, they've got to team up against an even bigger threat: an EVIL giant orangutan who's got his own pet giant lizard that breathes ice. And you know it's evil because it's got a whip made of skulls and has an evil laugh. Dom is joined by John Maffeo to break down how the movies in this franchise seem to be taking the wrong lessons from other franchises in an all new episode of the #talkintvpodcast
