TOP TEN '80's LISTS and FACEBOOK ALGORITHM

Today's episode of TALK JAM is both fun and a little creepy!

In Jam 1 we run through our Top 10 lists of favorite '80's things, though I'm not sure we really hit ten each... but they sure are fun to talk about! We may have updated lists later, but for now, it was fun remembering STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and Luke & Laura on GENERAL HOSPITAL!

In Jam 2 we talk about the all-powerful Facebook algorithms, which in 2018 were upgraded because Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's founder, wanted more 'engagement' on the platform and thought that hostile or angry comments led to more engagement. That's not even talking about the Instagram algorithm that caused suicidal thoughts in fragile young girls who were concerned about body image issues...

Today's TALK JAM is sponsored by the audiobook of STEALING FIRE by Susan Sloate, a deeply romantic story about Broadway and passion, set in 1980's New York. Check it out here:

REMEMBERING 9/11 and TOP TEN LISTS from the 1970's

Episode 37 of Season 2 has two jams.

In the first jam, Kelly and Susan share their personal memories of September 11, 2001, and the weeks that followed. There are some searing moments here, so you may need to reach for the tissues!

In our second jam, we go back to the lighter side, led by Kelly. Get out your bell-bottoms, your tie-dye, and your disco shoes: Our second jam today is ALL about the 1970s! We count down the Top 10 lists of things we loved from that wacky era. (This is not Susan's favorite topic, as evidenced by the #1 on her list!) We'll be doing top 10 lists from other eras soon, so stay tuned for those!

Today's episode of TALK JAM is sponsored by the audiobook of Kelly Fitzgerald Fowler's brilliant Biblical thriller, OVER MY DEAD BODY, read by New York Times best-selling author James L. Rubart:

WIKIPEDIA AND ANOTHER PERSONAL HERO: AMELIA EARHART

Today's episode of TALK JAM features two jams, one on current events, the other another personal hero of Susan's, aviator Amelia Earhart.

In Jam 1 we talk about Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia, which is not always accurate, but which recently sent Susan an email soliciting funds. Listen to her defiant response!

In Jam 2 we talk about another personal hero of Susan's (and about whom she wrote a book long ago!)--Amelia Earhart, the 20th-century aviatrix who set records and had daring adventures until her luck ran out on a round-the-world flight in 1937. She has never been found, and there is no satisfactory explanation for what happened to her. But it's great fun to speculate...

Today's TALK JAM is sponsored by the study guide for OVER MY DEAD BODY, the brilliant Biblical thriller by Kelly Fitzgerald Fowler. If you want to use the novel to create a Bible study, Kelly has created the perfect guide for you! Check it out here:
