Sudan & Me

Sudan & Me

Tanya Taylor and Todd Bigatel

In the mid 1980's, thousands of young boys and girls were forced to flee the ravages of the second civil war in southern Sudan. These children walked up to 10,000 miles, scared and starving, searching for food and shelter. Over half of them tragically died during the journey. Those who survived ended up in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya. Years later, 4,000 of these kids were granted refuge in America. Through the eyes of two young brothers, this musical tells a story of resilience, hope, forgiveness, and integration. Experts claim that the “Lost Boys” are some of the most badly war traumatized human beings alive. However, most of them have risen above unimaginable hardship to become something better than anyone could have ever imagined.
