Shandon Loring: Professional Storyteller / Seanchaí

The professional storytellers at StoryLink Radio, known as Seanchaí, are committed to bringing stories to Life through the spoken word as in traditional oral storytelling. We present stories of many genres... Ancient Myths and Legends, short stories, full length novels, science fiction and high fantasy, philosophy, traditions, drama, fiction, non-fiction, romance, theatre, ghosts & haunts, suspense, stories of the strange, and more! Our stories may be drawn from contemporary sources, or from some dusty near-forgotten tome. Regardless it is a treat like no other to listen to the stories & tales presented in a "live" format with the emotion and feeling a true professional storyteller brings. The Seanchai's job is much more than purely entertainment. The Seanchaí is the custodian of stories and traditions in need of preservation, and possesses the skill to ignore the inhibitions of modern day stifled conversations and instead focuses their attention on presenting those of us with keen ears - with the stories of the past, sometimes the present and, perhaps, even of what's to come. The infectious tones that we hear from their lips allow us to momentarily slip away from the modern day and very real world and conjure up images of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy. So enter here, and let us be your Seanchaí for a time!

Storylink Radio - CHRISTMAS PROLOGUES - Home In Time For Christmas
play

12/23/22 • 6 min

Centuries ago, by a scaffold in Manhattan, rose petals drifted gently to the ground...

...like snow on a wintry Massachusetts night. Melody Tarleton is driving home for Christmas when a man—clad in Revolutionary War-era costume—appears out of nowhere, right in the path of her car. Shaken, she takes in the injured stranger, listening with concern to Jake Mallory's fantastic claim that he's a Patriot soldier, sentenced to death by British authorities. The last thing he remembers is the tug of the noose.

Safe at her parents' house, Melody concocts a story to explain the handsome holiday guest with the courtly manners, strange clothes and nasty bump on the head. Mark, her close friend who wishes he were more, is skeptical and her family is fascinated—though not half so fascinated as Melody herself. Jake is passionate, charming and utterly unlike anyone she's ever met. Can he really be who he claims? And can a man from the distant past be the future she truly longs for?

With the aid of enchanted petals, ancient potions and the peculiar magic of the season, Melody and Jake embark on an unimaginable Christmas adventure—and discover a love that transcends time.

Storylink Radio - LIVE FROM A HAUNTED HOUSE

READ ALONG WITH STORY AT:

www.StoryLinkRadio.com

Tonight's story was told and recorded before a live, and perhaps a somewhat less so, audience in an authentic haunted house in Gold Hill, Nevada. Just a couple miles from Virginia City.

Of all species of ghostly phenomena, that commonly known as a "haunted house" appeals most to the ordinary person. There is something very eerie in being shut up within the four walls of a house with a ghost.

“Love may be eternal, but Lovers are mortal...Aren’t they??” Some restless spirits do not depart in peace because they cannot—or will not! Perhaps it is unfinished business that detains them, a bargain made, a promise unfulfilled. Perhaps a desperate yearning, their own or another’s, that knots that otherwise-severed golden thread.

In the tradition of The Gift of the Magi comes a heartwarming holiday novel to treasure... During the hard times of the Great Depression, newlyweds Peter and Lucy Thompson move to New York City, determined to create a life together filled with love and joy, if not riches. But Peter's promised job is not waiting when he arrives; it has been lost to the financial hardships gripping the city and the nation. As Christmas approaches, the young couple's meager savings have all but disappeared. However, Peter -- filled with childlike wonder, love for Lucy, and faith in the magic of Christmas -- never loses hope. Suddenly, on Christmas Eve, Peter makes an extravagant gesture of his love for Lucy, but just as quickly, tragedy strikes before he can deliver it -- and before Lucy can deliver her own gift...news of a baby. One year later, the penniless young mother -- despondent and bereft of hope -- makes the painful decision to leave her carefully bundled child on the steps of an orphanage. But Lucy's desperate act on Christmas Eve will set the stage for a miracle so remarkable that it will restore shattered hope and renew faith in the mysterious loving kindness that touches our lives when we least expect.
