29- The Freeway Killer William Bonin- Halloween Bonus Episode
Story Crime Podcast
10/31/22 • 63 min
Happy Halloween Everyone! We decided that since it's the spookiest day of the year, we would celebrate by giving you guys two episodes this week, starting with Part One of a truly horrifying case that left both me and Rachel with nightmares. The case isn't Halloween related, however, this is a monster that could scare you any day of the year. We hope you enjoy....
William Bonin was one of three serial killers who would be given the moniker of "The Freeway Killer". During the years of 1979 and 1980, Bonin, along with four accomplices, would savagely rape, torture and murder at least 21 young men and boys, dumping their bodies along the California freeway systems. His level of sadism is unimaginable, and it goes without saying that we issue a strong trigger warning for this episode. Join Rachel and I while we discuss Bonin's horrific childhood, his early stints in prison, and the first several murders that he committed with the help of his four friends, Vernon Butts, Greg Miley, William Pugh, and James Munroe.

***I just wanted to let everyone know that despite me saying at the beginning of this episode that I wasn't sick, I was in fact struggling with a terrible head cold, so I'm sorry in advance that it sounds like I can't breathe for most of this! Thank you for your understanding!!!! E.***

25- Roy Norris and Lawrence Bittaker- The Toolbox Killers
Story Crime Podcast
09/30/22 • 103 min
****WE DID IT*** We made it all the way to 25 episodes and, a little warning, this one is going to be rough.
The Tool Box Killers were two American Serial killers by the names of Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris. The two men met in prison and concocted a detailed plan of how they were going to kidnap, torture, and murder teenage girls together. OG FBI profiler, John Douglas, once described Bittaker as the most disturbed individual he has ever profiled. The crimes they committed against the young women in this case are so horrifying that I want to take a moment right now to give a warning that this episode might not be for everyone. We will be discussing torture, abuse, rape, and murder. If these topics are triggering for you, please join us next time.

28- Herbert Mullin
Story Crime Podcast
10/28/22 • 77 min
Herbert Mullin was a serial killer who terrorized Santa Cruz County, California in the 1970's. He would take the lives of 13 people before eventually being caught and put behind bars for life. But not everything was as it seemed in the case of Herbert Mullin. His victims seemed to be chosen at random, and he told investigators that he was driven to kill by voices in his head telling him that he was chosen to be the one who prevented a cataclysmic earthquake from devastating Northern California. He claimed that by taking the lives of his 13 victims, he saved the lives of thousands from natural disaster. Was Herbert Mullin an insane man merely suffering the effects of a debilitating mental illness, or was he in control of his actions and knew what he was doing was wrong?
