Story Crime Podcast - 27- Edmund Kemper- The Co-Ed Killer
play

10/14/22 • 106 min

I think this giant monster needs no introduction. Join Rachel and I as we discuss the life and crimes of The Co-Ed Killer Edmund Kemper. Kemper started killing at the age of just 15 years old when he murdered his grandparents in cold blood. But this was just the beginning of the havoc he would wreak in Northern California in the 1970's where he murdered 7 women before achieving his life's mission of killing the woman he hated the most: his mother.

We also discuss the upcoming dramatization of the Johnny Depp/ Amber Heard Trial, bringing Mindhunter back, and Rachel gets confused about who Norman Bates' mother is....

Happy Halloween Everyone! We decided that since it's the spookiest day of the year, we would celebrate by giving you guys two episodes this week, starting with Part One of a truly horrifying case that left both me and Rachel with nightmares. The case isn't Halloween related, however, this is a monster that could scare you any day of the year. We hope you enjoy....

William Bonin was one of three serial killers who would be given the moniker of "The Freeway Killer". During the years of 1979 and 1980, Bonin, along with four accomplices, would savagely rape, torture and murder at least 21 young men and boys, dumping their bodies along the California freeway systems. His level of sadism is unimaginable, and it goes without saying that we issue a strong trigger warning for this episode. Join Rachel and I while we discuss Bonin's horrific childhood, his early stints in prison, and the first several murders that he committed with the help of his four friends, Vernon Butts, Greg Miley, William Pugh, and James Munroe.

09/23/22 • 97 min

In this episode we travel to Melbourne, Australia where, in March of 1999, 15 year old Rachel Barber disappeared after attending dance school. Despite the police trying to convince her family that Rachel was simply a runaway, the Barber's, their family and friends, along with the community wouldn't give up hope of finding their daughter. After two weeks of searching, Rachel would be discovered murdered, but the suspect in this case was the last person anyone would've expected.

***I just wanted to let everyone know that despite me saying at the beginning of this episode that I wasn't sick, I was in fact struggling with a terrible head cold, so I'm sorry in advance that it sounds like I can't breathe for most of this! Thank you for your understanding!!!! E.***

Story Crime Podcast - 25- Roy Norris and Lawrence Bittaker- The Toolbox Killers
play

09/30/22 • 103 min

****WE DID IT*** We made it all the way to 25 episodes and, a little warning, this one is going to be rough.

The Tool Box Killers were two American Serial killers by the names of Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris. The two men met in prison and concocted a detailed plan of how they were going to kidnap, torture, and murder teenage girls together. OG FBI profiler, John Douglas, once described Bittaker as the most disturbed individual he has ever profiled. The crimes they committed against the young women in this case are so horrifying that I want to take a moment right now to give a warning that this episode might not be for everyone. We will be discussing torture, abuse, rape, and murder. If these topics are triggering for you, please join us next time.

Hey guys. This week we have a truly infamous and wild case for you all. We will be talking about Fred and Rosemary West, who were probably one of the absolute worst serial killing couples in history. In part one we will be talking about where they came from, their respective childhoods, and the absolute horrors they faced growing up from the people who were supposed to be caring for them. These two humans are the perfect example of nature vs. nurture and seriously make you ask the question: Can someone be born a monster or are they made that way? Part two will be dropping next week so stay tuned!

(I have to apologize to Howard because I called him "Howard Hounes" at least twice during the recording...I think I was thinking about Howard Hughs... Sorry Howard!)

Story Crime Podcast - 28- Herbert Mullin

28- Herbert Mullin

Story Crime Podcast

play

10/28/22 • 77 min

Herbert Mullin was a serial killer who terrorized Santa Cruz County, California in the 1970's. He would take the lives of 13 people before eventually being caught and put behind bars for life. But not everything was as it seemed in the case of Herbert Mullin. His victims seemed to be chosen at random, and he told investigators that he was driven to kill by voices in his head telling him that he was chosen to be the one who prevented a cataclysmic earthquake from devastating Northern California. He claimed that by taking the lives of his 13 victims, he saved the lives of thousands from natural disaster. Was Herbert Mullin an insane man merely suffering the effects of a debilitating mental illness, or was he in control of his actions and knew what he was doing was wrong?
