42: April 5 Podcast Blitz: Denise Williams
Stories to Love
04/05/22 • 21 min
Welcome to episode 42 of the Stories to Love podcast and here with me today is Denise Williams.
Denise Williams wrote her first book in the 2nd grade. I Hate You and its sequel, I Still Hate You, featured a tough, funny heroine, a quirky hero, witty banter, and a dragon. Minus the dragons, these are still the books she likes to write. After penning those early works, she finished second grade and eventually earned a PhD. After growing up a military brat around the world and across the country, Denise now lives in Iowa with her husband, son, and two ornery shih-tzus who think they own the house.
I’m so excited to have Denise on the podcast today as part of the April 5 release day blitz. I have a book release today—KNOW YOU BY HEART which is a contemporary romance, and she’s one of my author friends who released a book at the same time I as did! Her new release is called The Love Connection. In this episode, we talk about her airport stories, her interesting publication schedule this year, and how she appreciated her commute to and from work.

Episode 91: Today’s guest is my dearest friend April Asher, but the topic of conversation will be me! Today, February 25 is the release for LOVE LETTERS FROM THE TRAIL, the second book in the Spirit of the Shenandoah series, and April is here to help me celebrate.
A little about April:
USA Today Bestselling Author April Asher, aka April Hunt, was hooked on romantic stories from the time she first took a romance book out from her mom's bedside table. She now lives out her own happily-ever-after with her college-sweetheart husband, their two children, and a cat who thinks she's more dog—and human—than feline. By day, April dons dark blue nursing scrubs and drinks way too much caffeine. By night, she still consumes too much caffeine, but she does it with a laptop in hand, and from her favorite side of the couch.
From the far left cushion, April Asher pens laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with a paranormal twist, but when she’s not putting her characters into embarrassing situations with supernatural entities, she also writes high-octane romantic suspense as April Hunt, her thrill-seeking alter ego.
And a little about LOVE LETTERS FROM THE TRAIL:
Military widow Evangeline Espiritu’s world turns topsy-turvy the minute wealthy Cruz Forrester invades the peaceful hiking trail behind her bucolic Virginia bed-and-breakfast. With the privacy of her business at stake, at least she has her trail pen pal, Rolling Stone, to pour her heart out to!
After surviving cancer, Cruz is at a crossroads. And whatever he does seems to exasperate the attractive Filipina host, who’s alternately infuriating...and intriguing. His only outlet as the duo begins to spar? Writing to his captivating trail correspondent, Blue Moon—whose persona on the page starts to seem awfully familiar as Cruz’s battles with Eva soon blossom into something magical neither of them expected...

Episode 93's guest is author Thien-Kim Lam.
Thien-Kim Lam writes stories about Vietnamese characters who smash stereotypes and find their happy endings. A recovering Type-Asian, she guzzles cà phê sữa đá, makes art, and bakes her feelings to stay sane. Her debut book Happy Endings was a Washington Post Romance Novel of the Year. Her Mardi Gras romance Full Exposure is a love letter to her Vietnamese community in Louisiana.
Thien-Kim also coaches writers of color and is an EDSE certified sex educator and the founder of Bawdy Bookworms, a subscription box that pairs sexy romances with erotic toys. She’s been featured on Jezebel, Bustle, Entertainment Weekly, and Oprah Daily.
In this episode we chatted about her most recent novel, Something Cheeky. I gushed that she was able to pack both love and social issues in her book. She talked about her varied creative background and how it contributes to the writing And, we had a frank conversation about the pressure of marginalized groups in non-representative careers.

*part of a special series for Filipino-American History month.*
With October being Filipino-American History month, my conversations have centered around this unique experience Filipino Americans have lived. If possible, I am even more in awe of my parents, my grandparents, my ancestors. It becomes even more important that Filipino Americans register and vote. And if possible Vote early.
One of the creators I spoke to, the other actually, is Ezrah Lasola-Tuble, blogger at I Heart Romance. We talk about her work as a blogger and bookstagramer for romance, and how her creative work is the perfect bookend to her job as a registered nurse. She has such great advice about how to fill the well. And you’ll hear me gush at how many books she reads a year!
