Staying Solo
10/16/23 • 13 min
If you want to grow your service business, you may wonder what your options really are. Do you need to hire? Do you need a team? What’s really right for you?
According to conventional business wisdom, there are only two paths to follow when growing a service business. (Don’t get me started on how this lacks nuance and is genuinely some oversimplified BS.)
That’s why in this episode, I’m exploring what to consider when deciding whether you should stay solo or run a microagency.

The Art of Reinvention with AdeOla Fadumiye
Staying Solo
04/22/24 • 26 min
Have you ever daydreamed about chucking it all in and leaving your business behind for something new?
While this daydream isn’t uncommon, it’s often hard to conceptualize how (or why!) you’d walk away from a thriving business.
In the last Exits and Evolution series interview, I interviewed fractional integrator and operations strategist AdeOla Fadumiye.
Adeola boldly shut down a business that worked for her as she wanted different challenges and opportunities.
Topics discussed in this episode include:
- Why AdeOla shut down her podcast production agency and what led to that gut-driven decision.
- What’s she been doing since sunsetting her agency and how has she figured out what’s next?
- How consulting gigs have helped her clarify what she wants to focus on moving ahead.
- Why she’s looking for a 9-to-5 role as she builds up her new venture.
- AdeOla’s advice for anyone wanting to make a big move in their business.

How I'm Really Planning for 2022
Staying Solo
12/06/21 • 14 min
Is it just me or do you sometimes feel like December can be a pressure cooker of expectations to plan, plan, plan for the coming year?
Now, don’t get me wrong — I loooooove me some planning.
What I *don’t* love is this ridiculous and arbitrary demand on me that I must plan NOW.
Could be my rebel nature, could be the cumulative effect of things being really hard to plan in the midst of a pandemic.Whatever the reason, seeing people say we need to push ourselves to plan a whole year in advance so we can have the “best year ever!!” can be completely overwhelming.
But it doesn’t have to be.
In this episode, I’m sharing how I’m really planning for 2022 to give you a real-world perspective amid the end-of-year planning frenzy.
