Episode 72
Stay Hatin
09/09/14 • -1 min
After a few weeks Stay Hatin is back again this time with guest DJ Eons aka Dan Lactose formerly of a lot of bands and creator of 7′′s. Discussed on the podcast are important issues like Dan’s convo with his mom about the 700 Club’s in depth investigation into Dungeons and Dragons kids murdering other kids and how he wasn’t going to kill a kid, Serg has been out of the car game so long that he forgets the Toyota introduced the 2.4L Tacoma in 1995 #importanthip-hopfactz, is Your Old Droog really Noz living out his rap dreams, and finally the guys round out the family forward discussion with drunk driving talk. This episode is mostly tapes, heavy on the Eon’s selections with a few mp3’s from Soft Money sprinkled in there for terrible measure.

Episode 54 (yeah I know I said 55 on the show) for this episode Serg finally links up with Matt Chang who we’d meant to talk to like a fucking year ago when his record Bay Blue dropped on Anticon. Matt is a producer from the bay area whose been around for quite some time but he likes drinking, rap and as far as I know does not like Drake and the Stay Hatin rule book that totally qualifies you for being a guest on the show. We play a good amount of rap songs on this episode, some that he ends up liking and some songs he probably could have done without. Things get interesting when he tells us about how his wife reads him dianetics in the Bane voice before he goes to sleep. He also mentions this video where Action Bronson eats two chicken wings, I just now found out they were ghost pepper wings so yeah now it makes sense that he only ate two. Serg brings up J-zone explaining the benefits of limitations in the studio, video can be seen here. If you’d like to download Fresh Out Vol 2, it’s the track that Birch Boy Barie track is off of, then get that here.

Stay Hatin

For Stay Hatin’s 50th show we decided to really make it special and getting Matt Sonzala (Pushermania) on the show. Matt’s been a long time friend and supporter of the rap musics so we felt it was only right to get him to come through and speak his thoughts on raps, the bohemian grove, doing acid in 1994, promoting music in Africa and why Texas rappers need to get in the van. To make things more special we got Noz to come through as well. This was the very first time these two rap related dudes who don’t rap actually met in person. Stay Hatin episode 50 is about bringing people together.
As mentioned in the show here is the video of David Lee Roth’s japanese movie. Also as mentioned heres a few links to the artist Matt mentioned you should check out: World Wide, LOEGZ, and Dough Beezy

This is the analog episode, we got to bullshitting and had the idea to record an all tape episode. Noz was with it so we had him as a guest on the show. Unfortunately it was his suggestion that we actually play the tapes. Serg had the bright idea to record the episode at All Day Play which meant that it would air live as well. We had a stack of about 35 tapes, 6 walkmans, and bunch of cables. About an hour into the show one of the cables hit the keyboard and stopped the recording just as there was a discussion about Yeezus, the Illuminati is watching. Anyways Serg was able to salvage most of the show, there are some fucked up levels of stuff but that’s to be expected, we tried to even things out as best we could but that’s the difficulty with using cheap ass walkman’s and old tapes. It was a pretty fun thing to record and will definitely happen again but under better circumstances, like never do that shit live for the first time that’s for sure. Oh here is the link to the Mobo Click article Soft Money mentioned. Also because this is a tape episode the songs won’t be for download since we don’t have them all ripped. You’ll just have to find the tapes yourself or go make some youtube rips.

This week we have a very special episode of Stay Hatin’. Don’t worry this isn’t the one where we try to save Soft Money from abusing diet pills, instead this episode was recorded in a Brooklyn so we’ve got some new guests on the show. Skinny Friedmen and Tom Delay join us to talk nonsense about rap music. Well really they just join Serg. We had some difficulties with mics going in and out so some shit got cut but a lot cool rap songs got played and we learn about things like Skinny wants to be a UFC fighter and catch a domestic abuse charge, Tom is overly positive, and San Francisco is stupid place to order a Stella. As usual links at the bottom for the joints but also we plan on getting back to our normal schedule and pumping out shows on the regular. Life sucks but rap sucks just a little less so we’ll try to share more of it.

Oh man this is the SoManyShrimp episode. Music journalist and r&b lover David Drake is the guest. If you’ve paid any attention to rap blogs circa the mid to late 00’s you should be aware of the rap blog he started. Serg also posted on it before everyone’s minds got limited to 140 characters of tumblr likes. Just to go extra heavy on the 04 rap blog vibes Noz comes through to hang out and talk raps. We find out things like that David is a J.Cole fan, Soft Money likes white guys who do Bob Marley covers, Noz thinks Big Sean raps like NGA Fish, and that everyone is an industry plant, especially David. Illuminate is calling us to the table. Through all the talking we do manage to play 14 rap songs we kind of like, this one is pretty heavy on the talking and runs a bit long but considering this is the second meeting of David and Serg in real life I guess that’s kind of expected.

Stay Hatin is BACK! It’s been a while but we’re back with a new episode filled with plenty of raps, old and new. Serg starts things off with a block of STL Rap, Soft Money pairs it up with a set of ratchet jams. With so much rap it’s a little light on the convo but you don’t need long rants about sex tapes, tattoo archaeology, forgotten rap facts, who is the original riff raff? or why is Serg listening to chicago bop music. Anyways as usual the track list is below along with all the links. Download that shit, review it in itunes, whatever just play some rap music man.

Stay Hatin is back this week with more new raps and intense conversation about Andre3000 acting ability, Trae’s lack of pop hits, bop dance instruction, teaching old rappers how to use the internet, prison radios, and naked Moby photos. This episode features writer Tamara Palmer sharing her thoughts on the rap music as well as Noz filling in for Soft Money who couldn’t make it for whatever bullshit reason. It’s fine though, we run though a good amount of rap songs, play Lil Boosie freestyles and talk rap for an hour and a half. Serg rambles on about things as usual but that’s why there are guest.

Stay Hatin

Stay Hatin is back this week after a few weeks because we got shit to do. A lot of raps have dropped since we’ve did the show last so it got a little longer than usual and we also had Lydia Popovich of HaterTuesday come hangout so we can discuss deciding whose house we can trap out of, why Soft Money hates instagram, why is Fat Trel wearing a hazmat suit and other crucial rap related issues of the day. It’s like Face the Nation but not as shitty as old white men arguing about how to maintain a system that benefits their cold dead hands. When Lydia isn’t talking about rap with two dudes for the internet she can be seen telling jokes to people who sit and listen, peep this for her dates.

We’ve been slipping for a minute but we haven’t forgot about you. Soft Money and Serg get back on it before the end of the pile of dog shit that is known as 2016. This episode is super heavy on the Baton Rouge because there is a shitload of dope music coming from there and pretty much all Serg listens to for the last few months. It’s been a while so we broke you off with a long joint but jammed 21 tracks in there.
