Sports Spectrum's Get in the Game

One of the most successful hitters of his era, Mark Teixeira played 14 years in the major leagues where he racked up numerous awards and honors and won a World Series in 2009 with the New York Yankees. After starring at Georgia Tech University, Teixeira was drafted No. 5 overall in 2021 by the Texas Rangers, where he played from 2003-2007. After brief stints with the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels, he finished his career with eight years as a member of the Yankees. He was selected to the All-Star Game three times, won five Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards and was both the American League home run and runs batted in leader in 2009. After retiring in 2016, he's focused on spending time with his family in Austin, Texas. Mauricio Dubón, Houston Astros Shortstop

Almost a decade ago, Scott Linebrink took a trip to Honduras with Water Mission. Joined by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright and Don Christensen of Ronald Blue Trust, the group was there to establish clean water resources for a country where they are scarce.

Little did he knew that living in a nearby community was future major league player Mauricio Dubón, now with the Houston Astros. A fews after that trip, Dubón left Honduras to pursue his MLB career. Growing up, he had felt the effects of unclean drinking water, experiencing occasional illness because of it. Now an established big league player and a member of the Astros' 2022 World Series championship team, he caught wind of the trip that Linebrink and Wainwright took to help bring clean water to his community, and earlier this season he got to thank Wainwright in person for his efforts.

He joins "Get in the Game" this week to reflect with Linebrink about his road to the major leagues as well as his encounter with Wainwright and how much it meant to him. This is Part 1 of a two-part series, with Wainwright rejoining the show next to share his version of the story and how much it impacted him.
