Be sure to listen in on what scores we each give,

And where was the Grinch actually supposed to drop,

Whiplash Movie Review
SP Filmviewers
11/18/21 • 66 min
This just might be your tempo...
In this episode we are discussing the music based movie that is Whiplash, and once again we have some special guests joining us - it's only Ben and Fiona from Film Floggers!
As well as the talking about the film, we reflect on how far we would go to achieve perfection, our music instrument capabilities, and much more (while also trying very hard not to do too much swearing, like J.K. Simmons' character!)

Metropolis (2001) Movie Review
SP Filmviewers
08/26/21 • 49 min
It's anime time once again, and this one is definitely dear to Paul's heart - even if it is a little bit of an obscure choice...
In this episode, we are talking about the Japanese animation movie Metropolis, which is based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka, and a little darker than Sophie is used to when it comes to anime. Listen in to find out what this film means to Paul, and what Sophie makes of this venture in animation!

Titanic Movie Review
SP Filmviewers
03/07/24 • 61 min
An epic tale of both romance and disaster from visionary filmmaker James Cameron - yes, we are finally setting sail to talk about the legendary 1997 movie Titanic. This is Sophie's first time experiencing it, and so; does the grand maiden voyage of the famous ship entrance her, or does the whole experience sink to the depths like the tragedy that befell it?
As we go through the film, we also discuss how Paul sees a similarity to the movie Jaws (not for reason you may think) the highs and lows of emotions Sophie felt (with amusing results, I must say), as well as coming to the conclusion of what might have been the real reason for the Titanic sinking...

You can't get rid of Halloween Month... and in this second entity, we have very special guests from the horror movie review podcast They're Terrified and Tipsy (@tipsypod on Twitter and Instagram) joining us to talk about Jennifer Kent's feature length 2014 debut, The Babadook.

Sexy Beast Movie Review
SP Filmviewers
01/20/22 • 46 min
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
You've had a taste of the new format, now it's back to an old familiar experience where Sophie is watching a film for the first time - this weeks choice being Sexy Beast by Jonathan Glazer.
We still have the expectations section prior to the viewing (listen out for a fantastic synopsis read from Paul), which ultimately reveals what Sophie thought of this British Gangster outing. You've got to turn this opportunity YES and hear if this experience was a lounge in the sun, or more like a sinking boulder in the bottom of a pool...

The 100th Episode of SP Filmviewers!
SP Filmviewers
12/22/21 • 153 min
Here it is, folks! Our 100th episode, and our longest recording yet! In celebration of Christmas and making it this far, we are discussing two festive movies, which are Anna and the Apocalypse and Christmas with the Kranks (which one's the real horror story??)
On top of that, we also have a re-review of our very first (and very brief) episode where we discussed Kiki's Delivery Service. This is to bring the podcast round full circle from our humble beginnings, how far we've both come as film critics, and to give it the more thorough analysis that it deserves!
So grab your favourite beverage (and perhaps a mince pie), get settled in, and enjoy our extended celebratory episode! A big big thank you to all our listeners, and here's to 100 more for the future!

The Big Lebowski Movie Review
SP Filmviewers
03/21/24 • 61 min
This episode really ties the podcast together...
Yes, you will in fact be hearing Sophie's first impressions of the 1998's Coen Brothers movie, The Big Lebowski! Starring Jeff Bridges as The Dude / Dudeness / Duder / El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing....
We are also joined by fellow movie fan and YouTube content creator Film Blogger Sam (@film_blogger_sam on IG) to discuss who the Dude is based on, our thoughts on how much comedy it brings, appreciation for cinematography and White Russians... and much much more!!

The Blair Witch Project Movie Review
SP Filmviewers
10/07/21 • 57 min
Halloween Month is upon us once again, and for this year's first outing (into the woods) we are talking about The Blair Witch Project. The pioneer of the mainstream found footage genre of horror, which a lot of today's attempts could learn a thing or two from (in Paul's eyes). But for the real reason why you're here - did this film leave Sophie shaking like a leaf? Listen in to find out!
