In Mike Farley's own words ...We all have a past. We have all done things that we thought we never would or gone further than we wanted to. The truth though is that regardless of your past Jesus is greater. Jesus said in John 8:32 “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” The truth is that Jesus died so that you can live. The truth is that you cannot do it on your own. The truth is once we rest in the fact that Jesus is greater and trust Him to lead we have true freedom.

For me, my past includes drug use, self-injury, and attempted suicide. I reached a point where I just did not care anymore. Nothing was getting better and nothing could make it better. I had heard the name Jesus but didn’t know anything other than the name. God showed me who I was one day while looking in the window and showed me I could not fix it. I prayed that day for the first time and told Jesus if He could do something with my life then He could have it because I wasn’t doing anything with it. Jesus took me up on my offer and also took away the drugs, self-injury, and desire for death. You can read the whole story here.

That was a long time ago and since then I have been following where Jesus leads. There have been good times and hard times but I have learned that He is Lord in both. He leads, I follow and there is great freedom in that.

In this episode of the podcast I get to interview my mom and my step-father. I love just talking to them about Jesus and the Bible. The way that they each approach things is so different but God makes all of us different which leads to one of my questions, "What is surrender?" God gave me a personality and the ability to make decisions, etc. Do I just sit twiddling my thumbs to wait and see what God wants me to do? Join us to see how they answer these and other questions.
