Small History

My Secret Garden

There are a lot of podcasts out there that detail how an idea can go from nothing to multi-billion dollar corporation seemingly overnight. They often use venture-capital and business connections to grow to that size. That model does not represent the vast majority of businesses across the country. Small history was created to give a voice to successful small business, to show everyone that you don’t need to become a multi-billionaire corporation from your idea to be successful. Every episode we will do deep dive with a successful small business; to examine how they evolved their own idea, and how they measure success today, as well as sharing some of the stories of how they got where they are now.

In this week's episode I spoke with Genia Vineyard, owner of Simply Creative in Wheatland Wyoming. Genia walks us through how she started her business with $500 and a storefront facing a train crossing; and how she learned to maintain a work-life balance that also preserved her sanity. Enjoy.
