Switching to Different Sleep Methods
Sleep Talk: Navigating Sleep and Newborn Care Podcast06/25/22 • 4 min
Many different sleep methods exist to help children (and their parents) get a good night's sleep. However, it is vital to remember that what works for one child may not work for another. For example, some children respond well to being rocked to sleep, while others find this method ineffective. As a result, experimenting with different sleep methods is often necessary until you find one that works for your child. In addition, it is essential to be flexible and willing to change methods if your child's sleep patterns change. For example, a toddler who has always been a good sleeper may have trouble sleeping through the night as he or she approaches school age. In this case, switching from rocking to another method, such as reading a bedtime story, may be necessary. Ultimately, the best sleep method is the one that helps your child (and you) get the rest you need.
