Simple Online Business - Ep 171: Entrepreneur Friendships with Kristen Boss
play

06/09/21 • 73 min

As an adult, I struggled to create meaningful friendships. I got married and had kids very young, unlike any of my friends from high school or college. And then I moved across the country where I didn’t know anyone.

I felt lonely for most of my 20s, while at home with babies and toddlers. Friendships looked so easy for everyone else, and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me.

The first life coach I ever worked with helped me learn how to build meaningful, real friendships as an adult. This still remains one of the most valuable transformations I’ve ever received from coaching.

On this week’s episode of the Online Business Building Mamas podcast, I’ve invited my best friend, Kristen Boss, on to talk about our friendship. What you’ll hear is the real me, opening up honestly with one of my closest friends. Listen now for a peek inside our relationship, as we talk about the importance of entrepreneur friendships, tips for making friends as a business owner, and our money thoughts.

On today’s episode, you’ll learn:

  • The story of how Kristen and I met and become best friends
  • What we have learned from each other and building our businesses over the years
  • Why it is so important to have supportive relationships as a business owner
  • What supportive friendships look like, and the key to maintaining them
  • Why our friendship isn’t some fancy unicorn friendship, and how you can find your own entrepreneur bestie!

Simple Online Business - Ep 218: Speaking Your Truth: Shannon Brome-Ward
play

04/27/22 • 18 min

Recently my client Shannon Brome-Ward opened up to our mastermind with her thoughts about visibly making money as a Black woman, and how scary and unsafe that is.

I’ve been thinking about her words ever since, and it’s a perspective I wanted to bring to you as well... because this is a topic I cannot speak to - but I think you need to hear.

On today’s empowering episode I’ve brought on Money Mindset coach Shannon Brome-Ward in place of myself to give her the space and voice to speak her truth when it comes to making money in business. She believes that changing your relationship with money is the key to creating more money. Which in turn provides you with a ton of options in life. However, this podcast isn’t so much about her business per se, but about how she got the courage to speak her truth as a successful black female entrepreneur.

Listen as she takes the mic today in hopes of spreading awareness to those who have struggled with the same “hush” mindset for years. Shannon talks about how important it is for women to speak up and show up in a much more impactful and larger way.

Not only is she doing this for herself, but for those who never had the chance. For those who want to but haven’t had the courage, and for those that will in the future. As a black woman navigating life as a successful entrepreneur, she has, like many others, jumped through hoops to get to where she is today.

You'll learn:

  • How liberating it feels to speak up after years of growing money in secret or in the shadows of your business.
  • Why playing small discourages you from speaking your truth or showing up for yourself/others with the most impact you possibly can.
  • The importance of moving past fear-based trauma after years of staying quiet.

Learn more about Shannon Brome-Ward:

Shannon Brome-Ward is a Money Mindset Coach who understands how it feels to wonder where your money goes each month and the frustration of never getting ahead. After building over one million dollars in net worth, Shannon discovered the secret to money. Changing the way you think about money is everything, then committing to a customized plan enables you to have the exact life you want.

Simple Online Business - Ep 210: Too Easy

Ep 210: Too Easy

Simple Online Business

play

03/02/22 • 15 min

The majority of us grew up believing that making money is hard, and that hard work is how we make more money.

I want to throw that belief in the trash.

The truth is that making money is very simple. It’s not always easy (especially when we are just learning to do it!) but it can be.

I personally have had a lot of resistance to having things be easy. And this experience of ease can be very unsettling.

Recently I had been coached on making money feeling “too easy”. I realized I was trying to come up with some rationale that didn't exist. I earned the money. And it was easy.

And then I went to an NBA game - and what I saw gave me one of the biggest transformations I’ve had recently in my business.

What I saw were people who are at the top of their industry, who make millions of dollars. And they were smiling. That’s when I realized - they are playing a GAME.

Maybe this seems obvious? But to me it felt so profound. Here are people who are masters of their craft, which is playing a game. They get paid millions of dollars to play a game they enjoy.

On this week’s Online Business Building Mamas podcast episode, I talk more in depth about my takeaways from the game, and also about what to do when your business feels “too easy” - how you handle those moments 100% determines your experience in your business.

You’ll learn:

  • How to let go and allow your business to be “easy”
  • Why you need to stop making things harder than they need to be
  • Why you need to throw away the resistance of things being “too easy” in your business
  • Why your business will sometimes feel easy and sometimes feel hard - neither feeling is right or wrong

Simple Online Business - The Coaching That Ended A Client Drought
play

04/22/24 • 56 min

Last fall, I had a coaching conversation with my client, Brittany. She had been trying to consistently sign coaching clients for a couple years, but it just wasn’t working. She had an offer, a website, decent social media engagement... and yet it just wasn’t turning into paying clients.
Almost immediately on our conversation, I realized the issue. I told her what I saw, and what to do differently.
She implemented this advice and started signing lots of clients right away. She’s been consistently signing clients ever since.
What I found interesting is that she mentioned to me that she had thought about working with me a couple years before but didn’t - and wished she didn’t wait.
On today’s episode, I have Brittany on to talk about our conversation, the advice I gave her, and the decision to invest in coaching with me. This episode is a fun look into what it’s actually like to be my client. This podcast episode will be super inspiring for any business owner.

YOU’LL LEARN:

  • How to transition from a brick-and-mortar business to the online space
  • Why people struggle with finding the right offer and marketing services and how to fix this
  • How to be successful in signing clients and managing a growing business
  • The importance of belief and confidence in your business

Simple Online Business - Ep 235: What to Do When It's Not Working
play

08/24/22 • 23 min

I want you to think about the last time you were scrolling through social media, and came across a business coach talking about something NOT working in their business.

I would say probably once, if that, am I right?

And WHY is that? This Is a real and normal experience that every kind of business owner has faced at least once in their lifetime. You don’t hear a lot of people speaking about this, and there is almost this unspoken vibe that noone should be speaking about failure, and only talking about, and highlighting, the positive in their story.

When you’re in business, and you’re doing all of the things that you should be doing, and it’s just not coming together, something isn’t clicking, here’s what happens. You instantly question everything you believe:

“Maybe I am not funny enough.”

“I am too introverted for this.”

“My content isn’t relatable.”

And after you’ve questioned and dissected every single part of your business, what do you do next? You go back to social media, and scroll over accounts you idolize, and your brain validates all of the questions you’ve just created. Here’s the truth though:

You don’t have to be different from who you are to be successful, but your brain is going to offer it as an answer. The things that your brain sees, the things that are stopping you from moving forward in your business, are not really the things that aren’t making you successful.

On this week's episode of the Online Business Building Mamas podcast, I talk about some hard hitting truths and facts about failure when it comes to owning a business. We will work together to not only identify solutions on how to move forward from failure, but learn from these events, and come out stronger because of them in our business.

You’ll learn:

  • How to look at data in your business, and to pinpoint the things not working.
  • Why implementing an effective plan is an important piece to your success.
  • How being true to yourself, reflecting on your business, and asking hard-hitting questions might bring you the clarity you’re looking for.

Simple Online Business - Ep. 205: Anatomy of a Million Dollar Business - Part 1
play

01/31/22 • 79 min

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to run a million dollar business?

This week on the podcast my COO Brenna joins me to dig into all the juicy details and behind the scenes info of what it’s like of running a million dollar business.

For some of you that don’t know, Brenna and I are sisters. We are very lucky that we are able to work well together and can be so free in our conversations. But I want to leave the caveat here and let you know that not everyone's sister is going to make a great CEO or even an employee in their business. There is a very specific reason why we did this and why it works.

In today’s episode we talk about everything from our long term vision, to how we set boundaries, manage time, and budget money, to how we create demand, to how we have grown our team. I answer your questions about where to invest, who I hired first, how to plan for your finances, walk you through a day in the life and more.

We had such an amazing conversation and it ended up being extremely long. We are cutting it into two separate episodes so you don’t have to miss anything and you can learn all about running a million dollar business. Listen to Part 1 now!

You’ll learn:

  • How my COO Brenna and I work together to create a million dollar business
  • How I follow the four principles of scaling that I teach in the Mastermind
  • What our long-term vision looks like and how we are committed to making it happen
  • How my boundaries have evolved in the business and how my business has benefited because of them
  • What the financial planning, expenses and investing looks like for a million dollar business

Simple Online Business - Ep 219: Fear vs Intuition

Ep 219: Fear vs Intuition

Simple Online Business

play

05/04/22 • 13 min

Have you ever thought about gauging fear vs. intuition? The two can most certainly get convoluted. How do you know if the “fearful” feeling you get is an intuitive sign that you might not want to do something or if it's simply the discomfort of the unknown? Sometimes business can be scary, or hard. But when we preach the narrative that it has to be, I think it sets a lot of us up for more failure than necessary.

Things that are worth doing in your business don’t need to be as hard as you make them out to be. You don’t need to feel uncomfortable or jump through hoops in order to feel like you’re on the right track.

I encourage you to take on a different perspective when approaching your business. Embrace curiosity and start asking yourself the right questions. Why do you feel a certain way in your business or why does something feel “heavy”?

On today’s episode of Online Business Building Mamas podcast, I’m talking about how to tap into YOUR intuition to know... is this some fear of the unknown where I just need to find some courage? Or... is this my intuition telling me no?

Your business journey can be easy and enjoyable, trust me!

If it feels heavy or treacherous for you, let’s talk, because I want to help you find the light and ease in business that is 100% achievable.

You’ll learn:

  • Why the best coaching is the coaching that isn’t opinionated, but it’s the coaching that puts you more in tune with who you are as a person.
  • That when your business feels “too easy”, this isn’t a bad thing, and this could very well be a sign that your business is on the right track.
  • Why focusing on what is working in your business will ultimately drive you to success.
