Summary 1-9 : What Have We Done So Far? : TKF 010

Sifu TW Smith | Finding the Path Thru KungFu

Why do a Summary?

Something that I look for on podcasts, but don't find often. A summary
of recent activities or "wake" helps me generate perspective.

What have we done so far? How have We Done?

This type of review also reminds me of something I intended to do.. and
ooops, I forgot.

My son and I spoke about his organizational skills. Then we pause a
moment and assess how is current effort and techniques are working.

It is so easy to get caught up in our current frustrations, focused on
current barriers, demands of our time, that we forget what we have
worked through
. Where we have made progress and we can see motion if
we take time to look.

This applies to work, home, learning bagua, understanding a strategy,
performing a technique, I encourage you to take a moment and assess.

So, to practice what I am encouraging.

Thank You Dawn for your recent kind Facebook
comment,

"Wow! Another treasure! I am happy and so very grateful to know that the
wisdom and lessons you are sharing, both in the podcasts and in the
kwoon are a part of my evolution and growth. Thank you!"

TKF 009 Cut through the Chaos
4 Steps to Getting thru the Fog of Life

Getting through the Fog of Chaos in 4 steps is a Podcast that resonated with me as a Maritime Meditation long ago. It is the narrative story of facts how SeaMen navigated the sea’s before 1100 AD. The magnet compass was created in 206 BC, but not implemented into sea navigation until 1107 AD.

There are 4 steps that I share with you to:
- recognize your situation
- assess your status and contributing factors
- orientate yourself even though you can’t see through your senses and experience
- choose a new direction

KungFu was practiced upon ship decks, particularly in Southern China. With visibility less than 100 yards, knowing how to survive when you were lost at sea wasn’t just theory.

You will learn which questions to ask and to avoid asking until later. Also I will share with you what real illusions that you must be aware of when you get lost in a fog.

For my students, I take you through the Maritime Meditation, which is about a half hour to walk you through step by step, liven your senses and teaches you how to Captain your own ship.

Let me know if this episode has meaning for you, please :) Sharing helps others as well.

I really appreciate your review.

A Better Martial Artist Second."

Awakened by Crime, Am I ready when it comes : TKF 011

Use Meditation to organize the differences between Stress and Threat

"Dad, Heavily armed robber in area. They
robbed gas station at the corner
and got away. They may try to hide
here."

Get him comfortable, I put PowChoy in his room, and back to sleep.

I go through my list, like I have many times before:

  1. Points of Entry
  2. Weakness - glass by front door, in between street lights, privacy
fence (good place to hide), Stryker (1975 CJ 5 open vehicle).
  3. Duct tape the deadbolt to buy me a few seconds
  4. Place bottle on gate for rattle
  5. On high alert - got things organized
  6. Pretty secure, got my own covered
  7. What about my neighbors? Are they on their own?
