Have You Ever HAD ONE OF THOSE MONTHS!?
SideQuests!
05/01/23 • 48 min
Rob and Eli, the paladins of podcast don't talk about the complications it took to get this episode to the air however, we just wanted you to know that, despite all of the trials and tribulations that we had gone through, we did make it. Covering a small range of topics, we fill in a great conversation with a few of the newer ideas for Rob's system currently known as Infinium and we talk about a little clarifying matters of what the no initiative system looks like.

s3e23 Lets Rock & Roll! Great things. from both Rob and Eli's campaigns have taken place!
SideQuests!
03/04/23 • 56 min
Are the long title still a thing? Anyhow! Rob and Eli dive into an entire conversation about some of the awesome things that have gone down in their individual campaigns. Eli tells us a little bit about some of the climbing plates that happened to plague his party over a 60 foot long gap in a magna tube while Rob details, a vampire queen of the red quart... I mean, court... And some of the amazing rules of Fey hospitality. We also come up with a few ideas on how to handle NPC to NPC only interactions that players overhear or interact with only after a short dialogue. A few great ideas definitely floating around and we hope to see you next week!
As always, you can check us out at epic tablegames.com or on Facebook at epic table games and please send us a message via Spotify. We'd love to hear from you.

Oh no! Our audio died during the last two minutes of the show! The Paladins were devastated!
SideQuests!
01/28/23 • 49 min
Rob and Eli waste no time jumping into the conversation today, and while Rob has been interested in one of his newer acquisitions, Teens in Space, he hasn't had a whole heck of a lot of time to dig into the book like he'd like to. We also cover some of Eli's most recent campaign bits, one of Rob's mid session DM interruptions to help the party out, and Eli brings up The Wildsea which really sounds a whole lot like "Forrestpunk" to Rob, but the game sounds pretty damn cool.
And, our remote recording bot just stopped performing its jobs within the last two minutes or so of our episode, and I promise Eli said "I'm sure they didn't want to hear me ramble on anyway."
BUT WE BET YOU DID!
Let us know if you NEED to hear the rest of Eli's smooth and sultry description of chainsaw powered boats flying across the treetop canopy in The Wildseas.

What do you mean I picked up the the sickies from the kids!? Downtime activities and more!
SideQuests!
01/14/23 • 51 min
Rob's pretty Sure he picked up the sickies from his kids, but mustered through this episode anyway. Good thing too, because Eli asked SOOOOOO MANY QUESTIONS that Rob nearly passed out as soon as they were done recording! We hit some good points though when it comes to downtime activities, and because Rob still running pathfinder 1e, there is a great compendium of rules in the ultimate campaign book. We also completely forgot to introduce ourselves until the end of the episode, which is something we told ourselves not to do last week. All's well that ends well on a side quest!

GenCon Special! City of Mist & Amit Moshe
SideQuests!
08/07/22 • 52 min
GenCon has been an amazing ride this year, and as much as we absolutely love seeing every vendor, exhibitor, volunteer, and participant our favorite part is the opportunity to sit down and talk with the developers of the games we love. Rob had a chance encounter to sit down with Amit Moshe, the developer of City of Mist, and founder of Son of Oak Game Studio. Listen in as they discover some of what sets City of Mist apart from other games and enjoy a bit more of a personal look into the developer himself as we talk about some of our favorite aspects of table top games, and the love for the diverse community. Check out Cityofmist.co for more information about the game, and as always you can find Epic Table games online at EpicTableGames.com and Facebook at Epic Table Games!

The PALADINS OF PODCAST are back at it again! Rob and Potato talk about some big moves that Paizo has made recently and we're excited about the possibilities of what it means in the future for both Dungeons and Dragons as well as Pathfinder. Potato does fill us in with a surprise character concept that I just couldn't guess no matter how hard I tried. Check everything else out online at www.epictablegames.com

Rob and Potato learned that some people end their games at certain levels, forcing their stories to cap off at that exact moment. What is wrong with you!? Rob power levels his players until their ungodly and unruly. Potato does the same thing. In fact, why would you decide to end the game at a certain level? WHY WOULD YOU END AT A CERTAIN LEVEL!? But the guy who said level two is genius and funny. Thanks Reddit.

Decoding Game Mechanics: The Math of Fun
SideQuests!
01/27/24 • 47 min
Join the intrepid paladins of SideQuests, Podcast Rob and Eli, as they reunite with Paladin Tucker for a deep dive into the intricate world of game mechanics. In this episode, they dissect what makes a good system truly exceptional. From the fundamental principles of resolution methods to the nuances of dice mechanics, they explore the backbone of gaming systems. Whether it's rolling under, rolling over, employing dice pools, or even drawing cards, each mechanic plays a crucial role in shaping the player experience.
Delving into the "math of fun," they unravel the concept of success probabilities and the sweet spot of achieving success on an average difficulty task 70% of the time. But how much do these probabilities truly matter? And how do they vary based on the type of game being played? The trio engages in a lively discussion, pondering the differences between theorycrafting with formulas and experiencing gameplay firsthand at the table.
