They needed certainty. They got chaos. For over a decade, countless people from at least five different countries put their trust in a company offering prenatal paternity tests. It promised clients “99.9% accuracy” — but then routinely, for over a decade, identified the wrong biological fathers.

Investigative journalists Jorge Barrera and Rachel Houlihan track down the people whose lives were torn apart by these bad results, the shattered families and acrimonious court cases that followed, and the story behind the company that continues to stand by its testing and is still operating today.

In this episode, the fellas are joined by the hilarious and inspiring mental health podcaster and advocate, Kyle Moore. Growing up in rural Atlantic Canada, Kyle learned the hard way that mental health stigma is alive and well, especially for young men. But after experiencing severe suicidal ideation and reaching out for help, he realized that sharing his story and experiences can be a powerful tool for healing. Kyle also shares his experience of competing on Big Brother Canada, where he had to handle his OCD and anxiety in an environment designed to cause stress and paranoia. And let's not forget the "villain edit" he got, leading to some intense online harassment, including death threats and attacks on his family and friends. But with his humor, genuine curiosity, and unending passion for understanding people's stories, Kyle has used his podcast to reduce stigma, spread awareness, and champion unheard voices in the world of mental health. So join us for a conversation that will make you laugh, inspire you, and remind you that no matter what life throws your way, you can always find a way to keep moving forward. Jer and Tay sit down with Christopher Zara, the senior editor at Fast Company magazine, who bravely shares his experience living with Paruresis, the infamous "shy bladder syndrome." While often played for laughs in pop culture, Christopher sheds light on the serious side of this quirky social phobia, which can be both crippling and embarrassing. Paruresis is a legit social phobia and Christopher knows that more than anyone. From grade school escapades of holding it in all day (to the point of physical harm) to creative bathroom strategies behind dumpsters and bushes. Let's not forget the challenges of living in New York City, where finding a private spot to pee should be a frickin' Olympic sport! Christopher reveals how he faced this irrational fear head-on with self-imposed exposure therapy. In a recent study, a drug was found to temporarily paralyze sperm, making them unable to fertilize eggs for about two hours. And the best part? This male contraceptive is an "on-demand" option. It's like a remote control for your swimmers, allowing you to switch them on and off whenever you feel like it. Looks like oral sex is causing more than just a good time - experts are claiming it's stoking an "epidemic" of throat cancer, which is now more common than cervical cancer in the US and the UK. Move over storks, there's a new way to deliver babies in town, and it involves robots! According to recent reports, a group of engineers has successfully created a robot that can inject sperm into human eggs, leading to the birth of two baby girls. In a heartwarming story of hope and chance, a woman's pet dog has saved her life by leading her to a perfect kidney donor on a beach trip. Finally, Ghosting friends is linked to depression over time, says study. Don't ghost your friends, folks, or you'll end up haunted by your own sadness. Dr. Chris Honey, an accomplished neurosurgeon at Vancouver General Hospital, weaves his personal journey together with case studies that reflect the thrill of scientific discovery and the limitations of medicine. Operating on a terminally ill child amid an Ebola outbreak in Liberia, he questions his preconceptions about what it means to "win" against a disease and how an unusual friendship with a former patient alters his perspective on clinical detachment, and what "quality of life" really means. The Tenth Nerve is available as an e-book, audio book, and hardcover https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/688025/the-tenth-nerve-by-dr-chris-honey/9781039001190

Time for our bi-monthly bidet discussion. Taylor is sold. We start this week with some completely irrelevant cuteness from one sweet little powdersaurus to get the feels going. Cancer vaccine! Sounds like something out of a utopian science fiction film, but think again! We discuss the story of one man who thought he had a hernia but found out that in fact, he had a hidden uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and an ovary! Then onto some "beautiful anatomy" — a f*cking gigantic blood clot in the shape of a bronchial tree. We spend FAR too long exploring the world of online medical equipment shopping. Turns out you can buy a circumcision tool for $18.99 on Alibaba if you buy 1000 or more. Snip snip. Finally, this week's edition of What The Health?! Lady Bugs. They are cute until they are found living inside your colon. *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN
