Show Me Your Deck

Show Me Your Deck

Dean Sage & Jack Kirven

A podcast with Dean Sage and Jack Kirven where they explore the intersection of oracle decks and chakras, using their original decks to create new insights. Dean's deck is a modern translation of the Tarot that removes gender-norms to reveal the deeper, non-gendered meaning of the cards. Jack's four decks play with the traditional chakra system, examining the way they intersect, rather than using them in isolation. The show allows inspiration to arise from the intersection of all decks using both intuition and chance. Dean pulls his cards as the Tarot reader does, while Jack relies on dice to see which cards his decks will offer up. The result is a reading and a reminder that uses the language of chakras and the diversity of the Tarot.

In the vast universe, things move at incredible speeds and yet take millions of years to reach each other. Like that cosmic ocean, we too are together and apart, separated and yet emanating into each other’s lives, seen through the static of each other we must filter down what we are seeing. We can’t look for what’s perfect, we have to look for what we see, and filter that down into our lives and ourselves. We can gain insight at times, leaping above the surface of the ocean and taking in new things, new ideas. But we return again down into our heart and our connection with others. Through willful action we play out those things we have learned and know. We are called to action to reflect the glow we have taken from the universe, or the seeds we have gestated within us. Sending the light back out, but filtered so that we are increasing the good and leaving things better than we found them. Finally we are reminded that we are part of something greater, and that we have to filter ourselves in that greatness so that we are being authentic and improving what we interact with. We have the strongest effect when we share our heart, our lives, our experiences so that others can learn and live with us.

Show Me Your Deck - Episode 15: Creative Flame
play

10/19/24 • 46 min

This reading started differently with Dean’s deck being very talkative, setting the stage of a ship returning home on the tide, laden with knowledge and ideas where upon you can set out on a journey of creativity and action. There is an immediate reminder to bring this into a practical, real sense, not to leave it in the mind’s eye, but to bring it down to reality and put it out there. That means there can be failure, and that you should fail. Fail to find your voice, fail to find your audience, fail to create what you see. Only through failure can you bring that which you see into that which is real. You are your own source of power, it lies within you, and it always has. The ever-burning flame is what fuels your creativity, your power to do, to make. What you have in your mind you can bring into reality, with time, patience and your power. Finally, shut-up and listen! You’ve got messages deep within you, just let them rise up. Your emotions and your throat chakra will connect and you will speak truth and knowledge. Be the Oracle, speak deep truths with your work. Create contemplation. Embrace intuition.

Show Me Your Deck - Episode 28: Rooted Resonance
play

We are what we are, but we share that through what we say. We shape ourselves through what we say. At times, we need to one reminded that what we say creates what we are in that moment. And that can cause fear. But we are released from that fear if we allow ourselves to be. Someone in our life is giving us joy and good juju. We need to connect with them and share our energy that they have helped of fuel. We must be aware of the energy and purpose from which others are sharing their ideas and opinions. It comes down to doing what needs doing now. All of the actions we can take need deliberate and practiced hands. It’s not just about sharing with others who bring us joy, but purposefully planting in their lives so that they can grow. When we are in harmony, when we are tangled together like vines or waves. We may be a single drop from a cosmic ocean, but we are the congruence of those we are with and the harmony of the interaction of those lives.

Show Me Your Deck - Episode 18: Wet Sponge

The sassiest of Jack’s four decks jumps right in with a reminder to be curious and proactive about learning and discovery, given that this is part of the ongoing process of evolving as a person. Dean pulls next, and the reading segues into the idea that this journey of growth may seem fraught with peril – what if what I learn undermines everything I am and know? Good! It probably needs to. But once the study and practice transitions into actionable skill, it is very important to share the wisdom with others. Not only does the giving nourish you even more, it gives the world an opportunity to benefit as well. Something to consider in the sharing: When is it important that you take credit for the effort, and when is it more productive to remain anonymous? We are filters, and people may be reflexively closed to truth if they happen to have disagreed with us in the past. Transparency and honesty are not exactly the same, so deploy them mindfully.

Show Me Your Deck - Episode 21: Uncomfortable Comfort
play

12/07/24 • 49 min

Cycles are not circles, they’re spirals, moving inward and upward. The Celestial was eager to come out of the deck, just as we are eager to begin a journey. Sometimes cycles happen suddenly, unexpectedly. The journey starts from any point that you choose or discover. Let the journey become absorbed into you. They don’t stay superficial, the become part of who you are, you heal around them. Remain nimble as you heal, learn and evolve. There’s a difference between bravery and courage. What is knocked down is not ended. Sometimes life washes everything away. Consider where you’re building and what you’re building. Learn from past mistakes to be more evolved as you grow. We ourselves are the filters for our life and the information that flows through it. You need to feel discomfort while you are learning. You have to get out of your own way to be open to experiencing contradiction. In the shadow water, too much is happening, too many people are splashing around. You have to return to deep water, to stable emotions so you can take the time and space to find more information, better clarity. Part of aging is experiencing these deeper currents and finding ways to bravely engage with what you see. Being uncomfortable means you have a chance to take in something new, to deepen your journey, to reconnect with past lessons and find new material within them.

Show Me Your Deck - Episode 23: Strong Intuition
play

01/04/25 • 47 min

We begin with a strong reminder to stop, pause, and listen to the intuition that is rising from your molten core, an alarm ringing in your depths. Something needs attention. But first you must still your emotions. Do not let fear roil them and cause them to heave and beat against you. Still them with intention and let them settle so you can hear the message coming up to you from below. There is a connection between your power and your inner sight. Something that allows you to attain a spiritual view of the actions you need to take. It even reminds you that in community you are better, made stronger and more whole by those who can attune to your intuition and bring insights of their own. Because deep down, you are the master of your being, you are the prime mover of your world. You have the power to create the very elements you need to solve this problem, to deal with the alarm that is ringing within you. But to do so, you must strike out into the darkness, your light the only thing to guide you. Plant each flame firmly and start to define a path forward. You have the tools, you have the power, you just need to start with action.

Show Me Your Deck - Episode 11: Soulwork

Episode 11: Soulwork

Show Me Your Deck

play

09/21/24 • 77 min

Dean and Jack begin with the impossible connection, the crown touching the crown, the universe touching itself and yet here in it we are. The idea of dynamic balance being better than static perfection. That within our connection to something divine we are actively striving to be. The reading became one of external understanding and internal soul work. First it is okay to simply be still. You don’t always have to be doing something to be something. Next that what you experience of the world is also grounded deeply within you. Like water molding wet clay, or seeping down into the earth. From there you have a nourished empty plot of land into which you may plant seeds and see growth, an existential moment of nothing and becoming. To end there was the final reminder that what you feel and what you are connect at the core of your being. That you need to to feel yourself as yourself, but you also need to feel your soul as your inner child, ready for comfort, ready for a hug.
