Shots from the Sideline

Shots from the Sideline

Med Smith, Seth Foster, and Patrick McLaney

We are an upstart sports-opinion podcast that focuses mostly on football but love to talk about most other sports.
The Leadoff- Events that have happened in the past week that we and if anyone brings up a subject for discussion, will be talked about here. Just any sport is fair game and we both weigh in on how we feel about it.
Med's Weekly 6-Pack- Med thinks about 6 questions regarding one subject and honest answers and insight to the best of our amateur ability. Seth will weigh in the most, followed by a little extra input from Med for content proposes.
Seth's Second Thoughts- Seth brings to light some news that has not really hit the Mainstream media like he felt it should. Could be recent, could be yester-year, you just never know.
You can also follow us on Google Podcast, Spotify and (eventually) Apple podcast. You can also find us on Facebook (Meta) where you can submit questions or just converse with us.

Shots from the Sideline - Leadership Changes, Quarterback Clashes, and NFL Reflections
play

12/21/23 • 93 min

Join the huddle with Isaac from Fun Football Podcast as we tackle the latest NFL shakeup — Brandon Staley's departure from the Chargers. In a playbook of insights, we explore the ripple effects of coaching changes on team dynamics, the elusive hunt for leadership that can harness the potential of a talent-loaded roster, and the question hanging in every fan's locker room: Could Sean Payton's move to the Broncos provide a blueprint for the Chargers' future success?
Quarterback controversies often spark the most heated debates, and we're no exception as we examine Justin Herbert's role in the Chargers' woes. Alongside our special guest, we unpack the symbiosis of Herbert's arm strength, Kellen Moore's offensive scheming, and the performance of the Chargers' receiving corps. We also wade into the ongoing scrimmage comparing Herbert with Miami's Tua Tagovailoa — a quarterback conundrum that's as riveting as a last-minute touchdown play.
Our final play of the day involves a scrimmage across various football fronts. We dissect the MVP race's quarterback bias, question the Patriots' draft playbook, and reminisce about the glory days of Colts greats Manning and Luck. From the heated quarterback rankings sparked by Cam Newton's candid comments to debating Bill Belichick's coaching tree, this episode is your front-row ticket to the gridiron drama, strategy, and nostalgia that keeps us all coming back for more.

In the Leadoff we discuss the implications of Aaron Rodgers achilles injury, what it does for the New York Jets Superbowl chances and Zach Wilson may do in the upcoming season. We tackle the Texas-Alabama game and what went wrong with the tide, their offensive line and has Nick Saban mellowed in his golden years. And finally how it feels like the College football land scape has evened out as it seems the SEC is no longer has a huge advantage in talent.
On this week's six pack, we crack open the time old tradition of over-reaction after week one. Are the Colorado Buffaloes a legit contender to the PAC-12 title? Does the Kansas City Chiefs have a concerning issue with their receiving corps? Did the Buffalo Bills prove the critics right with their performance on Monday Night Football? That and three other burning questions that we answer this week.
Seth's SEC Spotlight begins with a new flare as we talk about the Proformance's of the conference's gunslingers and how we feel they perform in the previous two weeks of college action. We then look at two early season matchups with the Georgia Bulldogs vs. South Carolina Gamecocks and the Florida Gators and Tennessee Vols. Will the Bulldogs continue their early season success for a three-peat with victory at home or will Spencer Rattler lead an upset over the heavily favored Bulldogs? And then can Milton and the 11th ranked Tennessee Volunteers march into the swamp and beat Mertz and the Gators down in Gainesville? We get in a heated debate in this one.
Finally, we are talking week 2 predictions on five NFL games and weigh in on who we think will taste victory or suffer defeat.
Colts/Texans
Packers/Falcons
49ers/Rams
Chiefs/Jaguars
Browns/Steelers
Then we are talking shoutouts to David Tate who interacted with us on out Facebook Group Page and Shirl Wolfe for getting our Podcast out there. It means a lot to us and we just wanted to say thank you again and we hope to bring you more content for you to enjoy.
