Rob also recommends Marc Maron's podcast interview with the legendary Roger Corman, and explains what it was like to virtually encounter a shark on Playstation's VR set-up. We then welcome to the show special FX legend Steve Johnson, who has just released his new book RUBBERHEAD: SEX, DRUGS, AND SPECIAL FX, which chronicles his incredible 30 year career in the movie business. We talk about the origins of his memoir-turned-coffee table book, how he got his start with Dick Smith, Rick Baker and Greg Cannom, the challenges he faced on everything from GHOSTBUSTERS to THE ABYSS to BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. And he shares some fun, candid stories about meeting and working with H.R. Giger. Plenty of fun stories from one of the genre's FX masters!

In our candid chat, she talks about her films THE BEING, NIGHT PATROL and BLOOD DINER, the challenges of finding opportunities for female directors and a bit about her humble beginnings, including a friendship with the great Marlon Brando who bought her her first 16mm camera! She also calls out the modern crop of horror shows from THE WALKING DEAD to SCREAM QUEENS to ASH VS EVIL DEAD for not having enough female directors behind the camera for their episodes.
