Do you ever meet someone where you connect with them instantly and within a few minutes you feel like you’ve known that person your whole life?

A while back I was introduced to Jessica Papineau through a mutual connection, and we’ve actually been meaning to record this interview for you for SOME time because what she does is so aligned with the type of coaching I offer my clients.

Jessica is the founder of CSJ, a leading authentic fashion styling company for high-performing female entrepreneurs. Jessica has personally styled hundreds of women, spanning 7-figure entrepreneurs, executives for billion-dollar global brands, online influencers with millions of followers, and professionals in the entertainment, sports, music industries.

Here’s something else I love about her - she recognizes that the uplevel is all an inner game, and her approach to fashion is similar in a lot of ways to how I approach sales and business.

So if you love fashion, styling, inner transformation AND learning from pretty badass women who have grown successful companies - you’re going to love today’s episode.

Show Notes:

[4:58] - Jessica shares her background and how growing up with the type of childhood she had impacted her adult life as an entrepreneur.

[16:22] - She found herself in leadership at a young age, leading women who were older than her.

[18:11] - Learning about leadership was a lesson in listening.

[19:45] - When she was home as a stay-at-home-mom and her husband lost his job, Jessica knew something had to change.

[21:28] - While working in a boutique, she had a side-hustle styling women in their homes.

[23:01] - If you are allowing fear to hold you back from doing what you know you are meant to do to serve others, you are actually being selfish.

[26:03] - Once she made changes and started using her gifts to serve others, she wished she had done it sooner.

[28:17] - Jessica shares how she learned how to visualize.

[30:37] - Are you staying present in your intentions?

[32:20] - Start your day and know how beautiful you can look. Put your intention into what you like.

Welcome to a personal solo episode where we're diving into the dream of retiring your partner. Yep, that big vision that's a mix of financial freedom and relationship dynamics. I'm flying solo today, and I want us to really get into what it means to have this goal and how it plays out in real life.

So, you're dreaming of retiring your partner, right? But let's get real—what does that look like? Sure, it's all about financial empowerment and seeing your partner thrive, but there's a lot more to it. I'm going to share my journey, the ups, the downs, and everything in between. From setting intentions to facing challenges, we're going to cover it all.

Join me as we chat about the highs and lows of chasing this dream. We'll talk about the nitty-gritty—financial considerations, relationship dynamics, and the rollercoaster of emotions that come with it. And hey, I've been there, done that, so expect some candid reflections and a real honest conversation.

Show Notes:

[5:07] - Although amazing, your relationship has to be able to withstand this growth.

[6:22] - If you allow yourself to expand financially, it could open doors for your partner as well who may be dreaming of leaving a job they don’t love or even going back to school.

[8:59] - Have you felt that there is something more for your partner before they even realize it?

[10:44] - Elyse explains the moment when her husband set the intention of going to medical school.

[12:39] - In a nutshell, Elyse quit playing small in her life and in her business.

[14:08] - The shifts came first inside herself before they manifested outward. See yourself as the person who can retire your partner. Feel worthy of your income.

[16:50] - Overall, it’s incredible, but there were a lot of ups and downs.

[19:17] - Elyse shares some of the early challenges when they decided this would happen.

[20:51] - In spite of the bumps in the road, there have been valuable life improvements through this journey.

[22:17] - When you invest in yourself, it is a double blessing. It elevates everyone in your family.

[24:07] - You have to believe you can do it.

[27:03] - Masculine and feminine energy has a huge impact.

[29:58] - There’s so much to say about this topic.

She Sells Radio - 335 - Permission to be Powerful
play

01/23/24 • 45 min

Welcome back to She Sells Radio for another solo episode. After so many amazing interview episodes with the best of the best, I really want to dive into themes close to my heart. Today, I'm particularly eager to chat about a powerful concept that recently took shape in a book titled Permission to be Powerful, co-authored by yours truly and members of the mastermind. This book, hot off the presses since January 17th, invites you to think about a profound question: What would it look like for you to give yourself permission to be in your full power in all aspects of your life?

Power is a loaded term to a lot of people. And it can make us feel really uncomfortable. But it's not about defiance. It’s a conscious choice to be at the center of your life, steering your destiny with intention. I share my personal journey in this episode, and share the internal struggles to remain a lone wolf, as well as the reflection that led to embracing a path of increased leadership in my business. We explore the notion of surface-level safety in hiding and the transformative power of getting massively uncomfortable. Join me in this exploration of self-permission, questioning societal programming, and the beautiful journey of learning to trust yourself.

The book, Permission to be Powerful, features diverse perspectives on this topic, and I am so excited to share it with you.

Show Notes:

[2:44] - Elyse co-authored a book called Permission to be Powerful with members of her mastermind.

[4:40] - Power is a loaded word to a lot of people. It means that you know you are in control of your destiny and your fate. You are at the center of your life.

[6:50] - Personal power is not about defiance. It’s about you consciously choosing and operating out of the sense of controlling your destiny.

[8:34] - We have to surrender to how big things can be for us.

[10:12] - Elyse has taken on a lot more leadership and experienced a lot of internal struggle.

[12:14] - The wounded part of her felt safer as a lone wolf.

[14:03] - It took a lot of reflection to figure out which path to take. It’s understandable why people hide.

[16:08] - There’s surface level safety in hiding.

[17:30] - What’s the endgame for you?

[19:19] - Elyse couldn’t stop seeing the vision of the next level for her business.

[21:20] - Elyse had a dream about an office space years ago and shares the experience of seeing it in person.

[25:01] - You have to be willing to get massively uncomfortable.

[28:40] - We can hide behind a lot of things. It’s easy and convenient to hide because you don’t have to be responsible and powerful.

[30:29] - Who are you waiting for to give you permission? No one can but you.

[33:01] - We don’t always stop and think for ourselves. We’ve been taught not to question anything.

[35:17] - If Elyse hadn’t learned how to trust herself, she never would have learned the best path for her.

[37:05] - There are so many instances in your day-to-day that are programming.

[38:44] - It is easy to stop trusting yourself. But it’s a beautiful journey to go on.

[40:22] - When you learn to trust yourself and think for yourself, you start making choices based on expansion and your dreams rather than safety or restriction.

[42:53] - In the book, Permission to be Powerful, there are multiple authors and perspectives on this topic.

As we navigate the beginning of a new year, money is the hot topic. Going through previous episodes and noting the conversation topics that were the most sought after in this community, it is clear that we want the energy, the mindset, and the money. Who doesn’t?

Maybe you feel like money isn’t flowing how you want in your business or your personal life. This is such a frustrating feeling, but there are reasons this could be happening that you are in full control of. So, in this episode, you’ll learn five reasons you could be experiencing this concern and most importantly, things you can do to help yourself out of this rut.

Just remember, that seasons can be short and that sometimes a pause is exactly what you need.

Show Notes:

[1:54] - Any time something starts to feel like a should, it might not be aligned anymore.

[4:19] - Always show up for you and give yourself permission to have seasons in your life.

[5:35] - If money isn’t flowing the way you want it to, what can be the underlying things you can shift to get that moving again?

[6:25] - Notice if you are gripping in any way to money. Are you wanting a lot to come into you but you don’t want to give or invest in yourself?

[8:13] - Are there ways that you are not valuing yourself enough?

[9:18] - Sometimes clients leech energy and ask for more than you can give. Be clear about your boundaries, even though there is a level of fear.

[10:33] - Look for the areas in your life where your boundaries need to be set. We are what we are available for.

[13:10] - Once you increase your expectations for yourself, you’ll start to notice shifts because you get what you believe to be true.

[13:40] - The flow of money is slow if you are strict about how it comes.

[14:49] - You could be cutting off possibilities.

[15:42] - Your thoughts are those of someone who doesn’t have it already.

[17:22] - The work you do on yourself can align yourself as the woman who already has the money.

[18:47] - We become someone new by catching the old thought patterns.

[20:51] - If you are tremendously intentional about this, it doesn’t take long to see results.

[22:01] - What if you went all in for the next 60 days?

[23:27] - Consider what you would be thinking about or focused on if you weren’t focusing on the flow of money.

[25:25] - Sometimes before a large amount comes in, there is a bit of a pause.

[27:30] - Pause and turn inward.

[29:07] - There are other reasons this could be happening, but know that everything is happening for your good and everything is an invitation for you to uplevel.

[30:30] - Look into the two communities available to you that can help you level up.

Before we get started with this amazing conversation, I want you to take a minute and imagine yourself at 24. What were you doing? What were your goals? Dreams? Amanda Holmes, CEO of Chet Holmes International, had just lost her father and realized that she was going to have to take the helm in his multimillion dollar company.

Unlike most legacy business stories, Amanda had not been prepped for this eventuality. Instead she’d been working as a singer songwriter and when her father passed she was completely overwhelmed.

With the help of her guru however she found the confidence to lean in and persevere. She helped bring her company’s sales process online, completely changed the overall culture, and led them to massive increases in sales and growth.

What was behind it all? An unending commitment to do things in a way that felt aligned with love, compassion, humility, and understanding.

Listen as Amanda shares what it took for her to become the CEO she is today, to re-release The Ultimate Sales Machine, and to continue to persevere and inspire others to do the same. This conversation was a blast and you won’t want to miss it!

Show Notes:

[01:03] Take a minute and think back to what you were doing at age 24. Were you at the helm of a multimillion dollar company?

[04:03] Amanda shares her story and her journey to becoming the CEO of her father’s company.

[05:29] At what point did she find out she was going to be taking over the company?

[08:57] When did she realize that she could step into the role and own it?

[12:35] What has she learned about leadership over the years?

[17:34] How she completely shifted her mindset around sales.

[21:09] The steps she has taken to retrain her people and update all of their backend products.

[24:42] Amanda shares what it took to finish the last chapter of the re-release of The Ultimate Sales Machine.

[28:21] What her dad shared in a letter she found about how he increased sales exponentially and the ways it meshed with what her guru was teaching her.

[32:46] Learn about the Dream 100 list and how it’s helped so many companies double down on sales.

[36:33] Connect with Amanda.

[38:14] The advice she would give 24 year old Amanda if she could.

She Sells Radio - 203 - Demystifying Money with Misty Lynn
play

09/13/22 • 43 min

When it comes to money, we all have different experiences and different levels of understanding. We all have a different relationship with money, for better or for worse. But today’s guest explains that although financial literacy can seem confusing at first, it is one of the best things you can do for yourself, your family, your business, and your future.

Misty Lynn has more credentials than I can even fit in this introduction. She is the host of the unscripted reality show Heartbreak, the author of Demystifying Money, and hosts a podcast by the same name. She’s an Investopedia top 100 Financial Advisor and the list goes on and on. Ultimately, she's a money boss and her passion is to help other women understand money and make it work for them in ways you might not think possible.

Show Notes:

[2:16] - The financial planning piece of understanding money is the more complex element of earning more.

[3:40] - Misty has really high credentials in the field and in the beginning, she felt that once she had those credentials people would take her seriously.

[5:40] - Misty shared her realization of how she can help others.

[6:56] - It is hard to think about the future sometimes. You have to balance making decisions and being happy in the moment.

[8:32] - Misty explains how she experienced money as a child and learned she wanted to be in financial services.

[10:24] - There are more ways to make money than to work hourly and grind everyday.

[12:15] - Misty saw so many different perspectives of money, specifically the lessons she learned from her father.

[14:23] - Before she took the risk in leaving corporate, Misty had to do some work on her relationship with money.

[16:54] - Money is a place where people tend to give up because it is confusing.

[19:01] - Even when you are in a position you don’t love, you are learning. Don’t discount all of the things you do as a waste of time.

[20:32] - Be curious instead of afraid.

[22:44] - What are the common things that women don’t know before working with Misty?

[24:16] - Misty has worked with women from all walks of life. Knowing your finances is self-care.

[26:19] - A misconception is that men know more about money.

[28:06] - It is okay to want something for no other reason than just wanting it.

[31:09] - There are times when the people in your life won’t understand or agree with your goals.

[33:18] - Misty has a new reality show and shares the concept.

[36:20] - The reality show is helping participants understand money and how they can have what they want.

[37:32] - The network the show is premiering on is combining entertainment and financial literacy.

[39:45] - One of the best things you can do is to understand that the best version of yourself doesn’t exist yet. Take yourself out of that and make the decisions she makes.

As we move into a new phase with the podcast, we’re doing something a little different today. We’ve got some new things happening that are so exciting, but in the middle of the surgery, it looks like a murder. Have you ever had those moments where you see the vision, but there’s an in-between time that is hard to wait through. But in the meantime, we are bringing some of our absolute favorite episodes from the She Sells Radio archive to you. They stand out because of their impact and if you’ve heard them before, the content is more relevant than ever. You have evolved since you heard this episode, so let’s revisit Abundance Selling vs. Scarcity Selling with Ian Koniak.

This special episode is a live training with Ian Koniak, a three time She Sells Radio Podcast guest. As the #1 rep for Salesforce, the #1 CRM in the entire world, for 19 years, it’s obvious Ian knows what he’s doing. He and I have worked together on his personal brand and I got to know him as a person. I have been absolutely blown away by who he has become through this journey and am constantly amazed by how he continues to grow.

If you wanna know the sales mindset and strategies that multi figure sales reps use that have a lot of client opportunities and conversions that don’t have to hustle, this training is for you.

Show Notes:

[7:16] - What is speaking to you about abundance selling vs. scarcity selling?

[8:59] - Wanting something really badly sometimes makes it seem unattainable.

[11:25] - Ask yourself what is sustainable. Can you work the way you’re working right now for the next 20 years?

[12:31] - Learn the definitions of abundance selling and scarcity selling.

[14:45] - When we place our self-worth on our sales, this is scarcity selling.

[16:26] - When you’re seeking external validation, it is always going to fall short.

[19:52] - Your agenda should be seeing if you can help somebody.

[21:02] - Listen with the intention of understanding rather than listening with the intention of replying.

[23:53] - Realize that you don’t need this customer to buy to survive.

[26:36] - Say no to the things that distract you from being laser focused on your goals.

[28:14] - If you are thinking about how much you need the sale, you are not thinking about serving the client.

[30:09] - Your energy determines the outcome.

[32:08] - Learn from the people who have the results you want but pay attention to their energy.

[36:58] - The way we feel determines our actions and our actions determine our outcomes.

[39:28] - The real gift and the real prize is becoming the best person you can be.

[40:51] - Just because you think a thought, does not make it true.

[42:52] - Success is knowing that you are doing the absolute best you can to become a better person.

[46:40] - For Ian, he needed to lean into his fears.

[48:23] - How can you show up where you leave nothing on the table?

[49:46] - When you’ve done all you possibly can, there’s no such thing as failing.

[51:53] - How can you turn it around when it seems like all the doors are closing?

[54:18] - If you could have it any way, what would the outcome be? How can you make yourself a match for that?

[56:25] - How do you keep a positive mindset on your journey to true abundance selling?

[58:50] - Staying on the brighter side can sometimes be hard, but we have to count our blessings.
