Peking Opera, also known as the national opera of China, is a form of Chinese opera that combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance, and acrobatics. Originating in the Qing Dynasty in the mid-nineteenth century, it has become one of the most influential and representative of all operas in China. Yet this art is struggling to maintain its enchantment in modern society, as younger generations are exposed to many other forms of entertainment.
