Whether it's our wives, kids or friends, how we listen impacts their willingness to open up to us. Many of us are listening judgmentally without even knowing it, and that is a sure fire way to close off your loved ones to you. It's how my dad closed me off to sharing anything with him. He only knew a small fraction of my life...
If you want your kids and loved ones to be open with you and share the details of their problems (and successes) for the rest of their lives, you need to practice Safe Haven listening, which I discuss in today's show.
