See You On The Other Side
Leah & Christine
Meet Leah and Christine. Busy moms and entrepreneurs just trying to balance this crazy thing called life. But we don't do surface, and we're definitely not your typical momtrepreneurs...so let's go a little deeper. Empaths, traumatic childhoods, generational trauma, people pleasers, toxic relationship patterns, anxiety, depression, feeling stuck and desperately seeking peace and happiness. And then we fell into the world of magic mushrooms and psychedelics. The catalyst that helped us break out of our comfort zones and took us DEEP into our personal healing journeys. We'll take you behind the scenes as we learn more about the holistic side of healing and all the amazing people we plan on meeting along the way. Join us as we share the good, the bad, and the ugly side of healing. With and without psychedelics. We hope to see you on the other side! Note: We are not professionals and we do not advise the use of illegal substances. For more about psychedelic support or clinical trials in your area, visit https://psychedelic.support/

88 | Why We Don't Drink (A New Perspective on Alcohol)
See You On The Other Side
07/08/24 • 86 min
Is alcohol is the new cigarette? Join us as we explore this provocative analogy through our personal journeys of sobriety. The difference between sober and not drinking. Leah shares an eye-opening article that has helped many reevaluate their drinking habits. She also recounts her own eight-year journey that began with pregnancy and a pursuit of better mental health and clarity. We dive into the often misunderstood societal perceptions of sobriety and discuss why choosing not to drink is frequently seen as an admission of a problem.
From blackout experiences to the pressures of socializing, we unpack the complexities of alcohol use disorder and how it varies across the spectrum as defined by the DSM-5. Our conversation reveals surprising insights about the physical and mental toll of drinking, along with the challenges of navigating alcohol-heavy environments. We also highlight the stark misconceptions about what constitutes a drinking problem, emphasizing that addiction doesn't always manifest in a life falling apart.
As we reflect on the emotional and relational aspects of sobriety, Leah opens up about her marriage's transformation post-sobriety. We discuss the stigmatization of choosing a sober lifestyle and the significance of making mindful choices. Finally, we extend an invitation to our listeners: reconsider your relationship with alcohol and discover the profound personal growth and authenticity that can follow.

73 | Allow Us to Reintroduce Ourselves...Again
See You On The Other Side
03/04/24 • 51 min
Remember the days when we cringed at our former selves? Yeah we do that too. But those moments aren't just comic relief—they're the cornerstones of the empowered individuals we've become. Settle in, fellow explorers, as Christine and I take you on a laughter-filled journey through the evolution of our podcast, "See You on the Other Side." With stories of our past faux pas, we celebrate the growth that has led us from newbie status to confident teenagers of the healing and psychedelic realm. Our shared experiences remind us that personal evolution can be a rollercoaster, with its ups, downs, and loop-the-loops, but the ride is all the richer for it.
Riding the tide of transformation, we unwrap the layers of the mother wound and the interplay between the wounded feminine and masculine, applying these powerful concepts to our own tapestry of life. As we stand firm against the gusts of criticism, especially those from our male counterparts in the healing community, we shed light on why our voices as women are not only necessary but vital for collective empowerment. Our conversations, bolstered by the heartfelt support of our listeners, are testament to the warrior spirit within us all—turning backlash into the very fuel that propels us forward.
This chapter of our adventure takes us beyond the realm of psychedelics and into the diverse universe of healing. No stone is left unturned. We share the liberating shift from feeling cursed by a cycle of trial and errors, to recognizing each as a stepping stone to greater wisdom. We invite you to join us in embracing the full spectrum of self-discovery and healing, as we continue to share our journey, our hearts, and our most transformative moments.

47 | Let's Get Woo (with Allison Cullen)
See You On The Other Side
05/22/23 • 70 min
Allison Cullen, of You Do Woo podcast, is a human design fairy godmother and entrepreneur expert. She not only helps you learn more about yourself through the lens of human design, but can also help you utilize your unique gifts in the world of business.
If you're somewhat interested in astrology or enneagram, buckle up, bc human design will rock your world. Human design is a tool that can be used on your healing journey as it helps to aid and fast track the process of unlearning and de-conditioning that is necessary for growth, and gives you permission to be exactly who you were meant to be. Stepping into your unique human design also allows you to step away from the hamster wheel of life, and move at your own speed. When we first dove into human design, it seemed too good to be true...and also a little overwhelming. (Shout out to episode 8 where we did a VERY amateur reading of ourselves lol!) Allison's podcast breaks down so many parts of your design in short, easy to follow and understand episodes. Christine and Leah have found that understanding their human design not only helps them feel empowered by their differences, but it also allows them to better understand the people in their lives. If you don't know what your human design is, Allison has a great tool on her website to help you find out! We'll link it below.
We also talk about Allison's most recent experience with kambo! Kambo, also known as frog medicine, is the venomous secretion of the giant leaf or monkey frog, a bright green tree frog native to the Amazon. Kambo has a range of traditional and potential therapeutic benefits, both medical and psycho-spiritual. The secretion is known for its powerful purging effects and is used to revitalize body and mind. Sounds like something we need to do a little deeper dive with!

37 | Inside the Mind of an Alcoholic (with Jason)
See You On The Other Side
03/13/23 • 79 min
An interview Christine has been dying to have! She takes the reigns on this one and has Jason in the hot seat.
If you're new here, Jason is Leah's husband. Who also happens to be a recovering alcoholic and addict with 21 months of sobriety under his belt. Christine digs straight in and doesn't hold back. But neither does Jason.
We find out when the drinking started. When it went from being 'fun' to almost destroying a marriage and family. But this didn't just start at the beginning of their 17 year relationship, or even at Jason's first drink. Growing up without his dad, who was also an alcoholic, and both Leah and Jason growing up without healthy relationship role models is where this all started. What used to be a fun way to connect, slowly turned into an escape that seemed impossible to stop. Alcohol Use Disorder is a spectrum and not what most people assume alcoholism looks like.
Before Jason decided to stay sober, he admits Leah's journey to healing annoyed him. But his rock bottom came after he did a heroic journey and was able to finally SEE that his addiction had an effect on the people he loved. With a healthy support system and some new tools, (AA, his sponsor, a psychiatrist, a wife who is also healing, and the use of psilocybin) Jason has been able to stay sober. But it wasn't always easy. In fact, getting sober brought allllllll the issues they had as a couple to the surface and it was impossible to continue to ignore them. He burned the house down. But over the last 2 years, Jason and Leah have learned to build a better house, on a new foundation.
Jason doesn't do social media, he doesn't even listen to our podcast lol. But if you want to learn more, or have any questions regarding this episode, reach out to us on Insta!

15 | Finding Our Way Home (With Erica Sartini-Combs, Owner of Guided Place)
See You On The Other Side
08/08/22 • 102 min
Erica owns Guided Place, a home for nurturing the connection of soul and self. She supports those on their path to self-discovery, acceptance, and possibility through several modalities. When finding yourself, you have all the answers within you, but sometimes you need someone to support unearthing them by reflecting them back to you. This is where Erica comes in. Human design, Aura-Soma and reiki are just a few of her offerings to help you come home to yourself.
Erica is one of only 43 practitioners in the US offering Aura-Soma, and we are so lucky to have her here in Louisville! Aura-Soma is a system of color, plant, and crystal energies that supports deeper consciousness and a path to holistic wellbeing. It serves to bring unconscious patterns of resistance to light for deep, revitalizing healing.
We touch a little bit on Kundalini, the practice that had Leah astral projecting in a previous episode! And some more on Human Design...but from a professional this time!
We hope that this episode helps guide you in the right direction of healing. And we're here to remind you that you don't have to ever touch a psychedelic to begin your journey home to yourself.

55 | Shoot the Shit with Us
See You On The Other Side
07/17/23 • 74 min
Join us as we shoot the shit and completely forget what we were supposed to be recording in the first place! A first ever completely unplanned, raw and random AF episode where we literally just catch up after going 2 weeks without recording or seeing each other. We promise laughing, NO TEARS from Leah, a few 'aha' realizations and many relatable moments.
Ever wondered how your childhood experiences can shape the way you choose to express yourself through your clothing? You're not alone! Join us as we open the vaults of our personal style journeys, navigating the intricate connections between past experiences, wardrobe choices, and spending habits. We'll share how our upbringing has influenced our attachment to clothes and material possessions, and reveal the sometimes tender, sometimes amusing struggle of letting go of items that hold a special place in our hearts.
Now, let's talk boundaries. How can setting limits impact your relationships and interactions with others, and why is it so important for self-protection? Hear our personal takes on boundary setting, how our styles differ, and the impact of living amid drama. We promise, you'll come away with fresh insights and maybe even some new strategies for protecting your energy.
Moving on to a more sobering topic, we tackle our experiences with substance use. We share candidly about the effects of alcohol on our lives and ponder on its potential connection to trauma. How weed affects us both very differently. One as a medicine, and the other as a switch to shut down.
And how is this for a new closing catchphrase?!

89 | Healing Through Psychedelics and Holistic Living (with Stephanie Graves)
See You On The Other Side
07/15/24 • 87 min
What if you could transform your life and health by addressing the root causes instead of just treating the symptoms? On this episode we're thrilled to sit down with Stephanie Graves, a dynamic professional whose journey from a physician assistant to a multifaceted healer is truly inspiring. Stephanie opens up about her husband's severe battle with alcoholism and how a profound experience with ayahuasca led to his sobriety and their collective healing journey. From functional nutrition to psychedelic integration, Stephanie shares how these practices not only reclaimed her health but also led to the natural conception of her fourth child after years of infertility treatments.
Chronic stress, adrenal fatigue, and the power of supportive relationships are just a few of the intense subjects we cover in this episode. Stephanie shares her personal battles with burnout and how rest, self-care, and healing together with loved ones—often through the transformative power of psychedelics—can lead to profound well-being. We also touch on the critical role of gut and liver health amidst chronic stress and the importance of reducing life stressors for long-term healing. The conversation emphasizes how real, sustainable healing goes beyond conventional medicine, highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to health.
Listeners will also get an in-depth look at the world of plant medicines and the nuanced differences between recreational and intentional use. Stephanie provides valuable insights into various substances such as MDMA, psilocybin, LSD, San Pedro, ayahuasca, iboga, ketamine, and cannabis. We explore the importance of proper psychedelic education, the ceremonial use of cacao, and how such practices can foster family bonding. Stephanie's journey into homeschooling and the integration of plant medicines into daily life offer a unique perspective on holistic living. 04 | The Importance of Integration (With Henry Lucas)
See You On The Other Side
05/23/22 • 54 min
Our first guest! Henry Lucas is a LCSW and LCADC, specializing in trauma and addiction, author of Maximize: 7 Mind Shifts That Will Help You Maximize Key Areas of Your Life, and founder of Louisville Health & Healing. His practice provides therapy for anyone seeking help in a number of areas, including addiction, depression, anxiety, grief, and even psychedelic support.
In this episode, we discuss his practice with psychedelic support, and what his team is able to offer the community. While they do not offer psychedelic assisted therapy, they DO offer integration support for anyone who needs help making sense of their experience. Having a therapist who understands the use of psychedelic substances is an invaluable resource. And integrating a psychedelic experience is just as important as intention, set and setting.

58 | It’s Not About the Tomato…or Barbie
See You On The Other Side
08/07/23 • 74 min
Never in a million years would Leah have thought a movie about Barbie would trigger so many deep-seated emotions and also serve as help in a current relationship pattern. We talk about the real life lessons she took away from the movie (NO SPOILERS) and how there are two ways to see the film. We also delve deeper into the portrayal of feminism and why it's not just about women’s empowerment but a reflection of egalitarian principles.
A major part of our dialogue revolves around the divine feminine and masculine energies, and their role in shaping our 'self' and our relationships. We examine the transition from a wounded to a healing state, shedding light on self-awareness as the cornerstone of healing. From managing anger, rage and vulnerability, navigating the tough terrain of apologies, to dealing with resentment in relationships, we bare it all. Our personal experiences and realizations are interwoven throughout this conversation, making it as real as it gets.
Finally, we navigate the crucial aspects of understanding different perspectives, fostering vulnerability in relationships, and embracing change. We emphasize the importance of expressing our desires, and dissect how childhood experiences can cast a shadow on our present relationships. With healthier communication patterns and an understanding of the interplay of wounded and divine feminine and masculine energies, we believe healing and balance can be achieved in relationships. So, tune in for an episode packed with insightful, life-changing revelations you don't want to miss.

61 | Let's Chat...While We Balance Life, Self-Care, and Harm Reduction
See You On The Other Side
08/28/23 • 64 min
Have you ever felt the overwhelming pressure of managing multiple commitments? Yeah...same. Let's chat about our self-care while also navigating the growth of our podcast, juggling our own healing journeys, and family responsibilities all at once. As we celebrate milestones, and are grateful for our community, we also wrestle with the challenges that come with this growth and the pressure to keep up.
First and foremost, while we speak on modalities that are still stigmatized, we feel like we have a responsibility to our listeners to provide harm reduction. We've all made decisions we later regret, especially when it comes to substance use. But what if you had the tools and the friends to help you make informed decisions? We share our personal experiences and emphasize the necessity of understanding the risks involved. We also offer resources on our website for individuals interested in these practices, highlighting the need for education and the potential dangers of uninformed engagement.
Every person is unique in their approach to helping others, and it's no different for us. We discuss our distinct ways of aiding others and how these methods can come together to provide comprehensive support. From being direct, to exploring feelings, verbal communication takes precedence over DMs. We also touch on the importance of self-awareness and knowing when to take a break. After all, you can't pour from an empty cup. So, join us on this candid conversation as we unfold our personal struggles and triumphs in this journey of growth and self-discovery, and how we want to continue to show up in this space.
