Introducing: The Apology Line from Wondery
01/19/21 • 6 min
If you could call a number and say you’re sorry, and no one would know...what would you apologize for? For fifteen years, you could call a number in Manhattan and do just that. This is the story of the line, and the man at the other end who became consumed by his own creation. He was known as “Mr. Apology.” As thousands of callers flooded the line, confessing to everything from shoplifting to infidelity, drug dealing to murder, Mr. Apology realized he couldn’t just listen. He had to do something, even if it meant risking everything. From Wondery the makers of Dr. Death and The Shrink Next Door, comes a story about empathy, deception and obsession. Marissa Bridge, who knew Mr. Apology better than anyone, hosts this six episode series.

Introducing; DNA: ID
Introducing; DNA: ID
We all hear stories almost daily now about cold cases being solved by investigative genetic genealogy. This new crime-solving tool answers the “who” question about these often decades-old crimes.... but what about the why? This podcast will look at crimes solved by genetic genealogy, and examine the connection - if any - between the victim and the killer, and why the crime occurred. Each case is unique, and has its own story behind the headline. Join us for DNA: ID. New episodes will come out every other week on Mondays.
This preview of episode 1 explores the 1972 rape and murder of 20 year-old Jody Loomis in Snohomish County, Washington. It took nearly five decades for law enforcement, armed with the latest genetic genealogy tools, to catch Jody's killer. Finding him was just the beginning of the story.
