If you're a Westerner, it's very likely that you hadn't heard of the Fire Emblem series until the mid-2000s when Fire Emblem 7 was released outside of Japan. Though it was packaged as just 'Fire Emblem,' many were surprised to find that not only was it not the first title in the series but it was actually a prequel to its much more difficult sibling, FE6.
