River Corner Church

River Corner Church

River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together.
Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. As a church, we want to be a welcoming, safe, and healing community for those who are seeking, hurting, or need a place to belong. Our practices are both contemplative (reflective) and charismatic (Spirit-driven), creating an atmosphere that is both conversational and informative. The times we share are intentional and intimate, and a mix between modern and traditional. We want to be a place in which love and honor are lived out, where humility is central, and where hospitality is woven into the threads of our community. There is room at the table.
There is room at the table.
You are invited to gather with us on Sunday mornings at 10 AM. To connect with our growing church community download our Church Center App or visit us online at www.rivercornerchurch.com. River Corner Church is located at 524 River Corner Road in Conestoga, PA.

River Corner Church - Walk This Way (Week 2): Be Slow (James 1:19-27)
play

06/21/24 • 33 min

Throughout June and July, we are looking at the wisdom found in the scriptures through the book of James. For the early church, James lays out the convictions, values, and wisdom of the Christian life, and invites us to walk this way.
In this second week of our Walk This Way series through the book of James, Pastor Jeff McLain looks at James 1:19-27, how the scriptures deliver us, and what it means to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.

On Sunday, October 15, Pastor Jeff McLain continued our To the Church series through 1 Thessalonians, as he looked at 1 Thessalonians 3:1-6 and the way that Paul sets an example of care and resilience for followers of Jesus and church communities.
We started this series by looking at Acts 17 and getting an overview of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonian followers of Jesus. Though Paul was only with them for three weeks, that church grew to be a strong outpost of the Kingdom of God by the power of the Holy Spirit. Despite the persecution, cultural problems, and societal polarization they were facing around them, they were able to hold on to their faith in remarkable ways.
Along with Silas and Timothy, Paul wrote this letter to the Thessalonian churches to encourage them to stay focused and true to what God was doing in their midst. Paul also wrote the letter to equip them with mindsets and postures that will help liberate them from the entrapping of their mourning, grief, and suffering. This letter empowers them with principles and priorities to live by as individuals and as a church that will help them to know “how to live in order to please God.”

On Sunday, December 17, Pastor Jeff McLain completed our Advent series, Do Not Fear. This sermon focused on the story of the Shepherds found in Luke 2:8-20. In Luke 2:8-20, God asks the Shepherds to step out in faith, despite their social exclusions and unseen capabilities. The Shepherds story, emphasizes the importance of holding onto God's love for who we are, and for those God has placed in our spheres of infulence, no matter what it will cost us, trusting in God's plan during challenging moments where weariness, discouragement, and apathy can settle in.
Do Not Fear Sermon Series
Our Do Not Fear Sermon Series on Sunday mornings at River Corner Church, is a spiritual pilgrimage behind all that is merry and bright, and into the very real story of Advent. This series explores the four places the main characters of the Advent story are gripped by fear and are told, "do not fear." This annual spiritual pilgrimage involves immersing oneself in the profound narrative of Jesus' birth—a story of transformation that calls those in the story (and us) to step out in faith, even when we are already discouraged, to experience eternal hope, peace, joy, and love.

River Corner Church - The Cost of Stepping Into the Kingdom (Luke 9:57–62)
play

03/17/24 • 33 min

On March 17, at River Corner Church, Pastor Jeff McLain looked at Luke 9:57-62 and the cost of stepping into the Kingdom. Together we looked at what it means to continually say yes to Jesus and to accurately count the cost of following Jesus.
About saying yes to Jesus, John Wimber once said, "The economy of the kingdom of God is quite simple. Every new step in the kingdom costs us everything we have gained to date. Every time we cross a new threshold, it costs us everything we now have. Every new step may cost us all the reputation and security we have accumulated up to that point. It costs us our life. A disciple is always ready to take the next step. If there is anything that characterizes Christian maturity, it is the willingness to become a beginner again for Jesus Christ. It is the willingness to put our hand in his hand and say, “I’m scared to death, but I’ll go with you. You’re the Pearl of great price.”
