#26 - Hockey is Back in Massachusetts - Live from the BOG
11/09/20 • 18 min
Where Bob reports from an actual hockey game
+++
Massachusetts returns to hockey activity after a two-week pause. Bob calls in from The Bog in Kingston MA and Matt asks: What is it like at the rink? How was the enforcement of the protocols? Did all of the kids wear their masks over their mouth and nose while playing? What was it like to have body checking again? Did the parents behave themselves? How did the actual game go?

#25 - Rebecca Morse (Moose) of the NWHL's Metropolitan Riveters
Where Bob chats with Moose.
+++
Rebecca Morse (aka Moose) is entering her 5th season as a member of the Metropolitan Riveters. A 5-8 blueliner out of Westfield, NJ, Moose is an Isobel Cup champion and NWHL all-star. Prior to the NWHL, she played 4 years at Providence College, where she also earned BS and MBA degrees. She was class valedictorian and captain of the hockey team at the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, NY.
+++
In this wide-ranging conversation, Bob, Matt and Moose discuss: Maintaining good hockey form during the pandemic; stinky hockey bags; the finer points of one-timers; fireworks and bottle service with the Isobel Cup; recommitting to hockey after a career pause; being a fan of the NJ Devils; surviving a job interview with Lou Lamoriello; protecting the goalie; and rough play in the NWHL.

#27 - Flaming Ice Resurfacing Machine, Doug Peters of the Zamboni Company
In this episode, Bob and Matt welcome back Doug Peters, regional sales manager at the Zamboni Company and host of the Ask the Zamboni Experts podcast. Hear the whole truth about what happened with that unfortunate incident in Rochester NY, where an 11-second video of a spectacular hydraulic fluid mishap on a NON-Zamboni ice resurfacing machine caused a viral sensation. They discuss: How did the Zamboni Company react when they heard the news? How do you protect the brand when it's misrepresented in a story like this? What caused the fire? Did the driver do the right thing? How did nobody get hurt? What safety lessons do we learn? Nothing to do with ice resurfacing, why is Bob all of the sudden ripping the Cornell Big Red?
The lesson, as always, Matt reminds us, "All Zambonis are ice resurfacing machines, but not all ice resurfacing machines are Zambonis."
