Thousands of horror movies. Hundreds of franchises. But only ONE that has stayed consistent: "The Evil Dead". Every week in October, the team here will be examining an installment in the franchise with special musician guests.

This week Ross, Ian, and Nat are joined by Josh Staples to discuss the film that started it all: 1981's "The Evil Dead". The film that put Bruce Campbell and Raimi on everyone's radar. The early embers of a cult classic horror phenom that spread like wildfire through VHS machines across the globe. A terrifying entry point? A camp classic celebrated for its failures? An ambitious new direction for horror films? Find out as we discuss it all!!

There is a deeper dive into this film over at the rigs of dad patreon page, with an extended and unedited version of this chat featuring more on the makeup, the hardships, the effects, and the famous "tree ---- scene", as well as early access to other conversations in queue, and more. Head over to the Rigs of Dad Patreon Page where you can also hear more unedited, ad-free interviews with previous guests, patreon exclusives, and beyond!

Ross put out an album under the name COGENTS. It's available wherever you listen to music and highly recommended for those looking to scratch their ambient itch.

Ian and Nat have a new 7" from their band Strangelight and you can keep up with them at their bandcamp page.

Josh has an incredible podcast called Forever Midnight that is available on all major platforms, but best celebrated via THEIR PATREON PAGE so stay cool by getting in on that party!

Rigs of Dad Prodcast - The Rigs of Dad Prodcast ep 10: Alex Auxier (Orange Amps)
play

06/22/20 • 58 min

We all know that tone comes from the heart, but it takes an amp to get the blood pumping and the tone thumping...  That is where Alex Auxier steps in.

As Artist Relations for Orange Amps, Alex is the dude who makes sure the backline is the best it can be, where it can be, and that Orange Artists are always able to hone their tone with ease.

We talk gear, landing a "white whale" account, why Yanni's music is magic, and much more.  Fun conversation with a truly funny dude.

If you want to hear all the stuff we can't say in public, check out the unedited and extended interview over at www.patreon.com/rigsofdad

Rigs of Dad Prodcast - The Rigs of Dad Prodcast ep 7: Anton Dang (O'Brother)
play

05/29/20 • 59 min

RE-UPLOADED!  Apparently there was an audio issue with the first bounce.
Anton has been wiping venue floors with people's jaws for a decade now leaving many hard of hearing as well as speechless in the process.  His band O'Brother just released their fourth full-length, "You and I"...  to no surprise, it is amazing.

We talk writing, finding their sound, honing his tone, and much much more.

Check out the unedited and extended version of this interview (and all other conversations) at patreon.com/rigsofdad

I have been looking forward to this episode for a long time.  A while back, Josh sent me some mixes of what was possibly a Shiner album, with no real release details or anything, so I could not ask to have him on here to talk about it...

Well, now the album is out, and it is nothing short of phenomenal.  We talked about the writing process for this record, his evolution as a guitarist, got nerdy over some gear, talked horror movies, and much much more.

There is over an hour of additional conversation from this interview (as well as all previous interviews) over at the Rigs of Dad Patreon page - patreon.com/rigsofdad

Be sure to subscribe if you dig.

I really really really really wanted to get Ja Rule on the show to talk about his work with Swizz Beats and Metallica, but ended up with his brother Tucker.

Most of you know Tucker as the drummer for Thursday, or maybe from his work with Frank Iero and the Future Violents...  But now you will have the opportunity to know him on a deeper level.  Don't just listen to what he says here... feel it.  I know I did!  You can and should check out his bands, and be sure to keep up with all things Tucker on his instagram page, which is @tuckerrule

We talked about his journey as a punk drummer playing basement shows to session player extraordinaire, sitting in with Seth Meyer's band amongst many other killer gigs.

Lots of nerdy deep dives in this conversation up on the Rigs of Dad Patreon Page.  Be sure to subscribe if you want early access to all episodes like this one and more, much much more.

Stay true.  Believe.  One Love.

Many might know Chris Johnson as the bassist for the genre-redefining, grammy-nominated band Deafheaven...  But his ear and career (his CarEAR) goes much deeper than that.

I talked to Chris about wearing several different hats within the band world, whether it be a sound engineer, a recording engineer, a bassist, and more!  We talk about his insane Grammy experience and everything leading up to it, and we of course cut to the core of his being in the Lightning Crashes Round.

There are some stories that are simply too wild for the public, you can find that over at the Rigs of Dad Patreon page, along with extended interviews from previous guests.

Be sure to subscribe.  One Love.  Jah Bless

Jordan Buckley returns, and this time he is with his bandmate/producer Will Putney (End, Fit for an Autopsy, and more). They swing through to talk all things Better Lovers, building a band from the remains of others, wirting, producing, playing live, and beyond. Fascinating conversation with two incredibly fascinating and funny dudes.

If you are a fan of Every Time I Die, End, Dillinger Escape Plan, Fit for and Autopsy, and beyond then this episode is for you!

There is a full, extra 90 minute interview with Jordan over at the rigs of dad patreon page, as well as extras for this interview, early access to other conversations in queue, and more.
