Revenge of the 90s: A Movie Podcast

Sure, 'Cliffhanger' is a Sylvester Stallone movie, but it's certainly a different vehicle for him. This 1993 action classic (which TOTALLY holds up) has Stallone doing some typical Stallone stuff, but he also plays a quieter, way more vulnerable character here, facing off against an insanely fun John Lithgow villain. We might be living in the golden age of superhero movies now, but the '90s were... not that. However, while the big-name heroes weren't often on the big screen, plenty of smaller ones were, and that includes The Shadow, a hero with an absolutely insane backstory. For a superhero movie from 1994, 'The Shadow' does a lot of things well, especially in the effects department, and Alec Baldwin is great in it. Dig in!

'Rush Hour' was Jackie Chan's big Hollywood introduction to American audiences, sparking an incredibly popular franchise and Chan's own meteoric rise over in the United States. And though some elements certainly don't hold up over time, the action and chemistry between Chan and Chris Tucker certainly do.
