We often played games together and conversed about old games. This led to the idea that we should record and release them.
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
We hope they enjoy the show, join our discord or other social media, and share their love of the hobby with us.
Which episode should someone start with?
It's always good to start with the first episode, but we have continuously sought to improve the show's quality and flow throughout the show.
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
Super Mario RPG was a fun episode and our 10th recording, making it an early milestone.
Which episode are you most proud of?
All of them. It has been a thrill to learn audio editing through trial and error.
What is your vision for your show?
To keep it casual and not too long.
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
Retro Wars, Remember the Game, Unbuckled Comics, Treehouse Anime Club, and Retro Hangover, to name a few.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
Through trial and error. We made a bunch of names and then discussed which would fit the best. Retrotopia is an obvious combination of Retro and Utopia.
Tell us a bit about yourself
Brian is a Canadian from Ontario; Sam is an American from Wisconsin. We met through a mutual discord and got along. Playing games together, we chatted a lot about old games. Sam played Sega as a kid; Brian played Nintendo. With this, we've been able to share different games from our childhood and enjoy them from a new perspective.
