We have another wonderful interview this week for Episode 9! My guest is Daisy Carrasquillo and she is sharing her journey with NaProTECHNOLOGY and infertility, miscarriage, and the birth stories of her miracle boys. I’m sure that if you’ve experienced infertility, miscarriage, or both, that you will be able to identify with her story.

Something that we forgot to touch on in the interview is that our connection goes way back! We were actually in the same high school religious education class years ago but never interacted. Then in 2019, after seeing our mutual FertilityCare Practitioner share one of my posts on Instagram, Daisy reached out to me and shared her story. I was so moved by it and her vulnerability, as I had just had surgery for endometriosis/infertility and we had the same NaPro surgeon, Dr. Michael Jones. I absolutely love how God works in these stories that are so painful yet lead to such beauty!

Malori Mayor, BSN, RN and infertility warrior

Restoring Fertility Naturally - Episode 2: What is Restorative Reproductive Medicine?
play

05/04/19 • 20 min

Welcome back, lovely listeners! Today we dive into what restorative reproductive medicine is and why to choose it over assisted reproductive technology. We'll also touch on complementary modalities to RRM such as fertility awareness methods and functional medicine. Get ready for an information-packed episode!
Your host,
Malori Mayor, BSN, RN and infertility warrior

SHOW NOTES

  • Make sure to listen to Episode #1 if you haven't already!
  • What is restorative reproductive medicine (RRM)?
  • Other methods of fertility charting that work with RRM: Sympto-Thermal (Couple-to-Couple League), Marquette (sympto-hormonal), Billings Ovulation Method.
  • Complements to RRM include: nutritional intervention and functional medicine.
    • Definition of functional medicine from the Institute for Functional Medicine: "...a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease..."
  • Why choose RRM over assisted reproductive technology (ART) like IVF?
    • It matters how you get to the end-state of having a baby!
    • RRM respects the life and dignity of everyone involved. ART does not.
  • This podcast is focused solely on RRM and other forms of medicine that complement it. This was created because of a hole in the marketplace for this kind of information.
  • RRM doesn't believe in "unexplained infertility." It's just a matter of finding the reason.

I also had a hysteroscopy (looking inside the uterus) and selective HSG (looking inside and clearing the Fallopian tubes) during the surgery. If you're getting ready for a laparoscopy or even just thinking of having one, this episode is for you! Feel free to email me down below if you have any questions about the process.
