Female Voices: Life and Loss

Coach Teresa talks about navigating grief as a grandparent. When your child loses a child, you are grieving both your grandchild and you are grieving for your child. Instead of spoiling a grandchild, you have now become the ultimate caregiver for your family and possibly your child's friends.

Inside this episode you will hear about:

  • The most important thing to always remember is everyone grieves differently.
  • Loss cannot be "fixed".
  • Take your child's lead when talking about the loss.
  • Remember to take care of your own grief and seek support.

"You are 100% in control of talking about your grief and 0% of controlling how people respond to it. People do not want to get your sadness all over them" -- Teresa Reiniger

156: You are so strong ... I don't always feel strong with Kristen Azotea

Kristen Azotea shared her story of the loss of her first daughter Adalida in 2014. At 26 weeks pregnant she was admitted to the hospital and soon after needed an emergency c-section because her and her baby's life were in danger. Kristen had contracted and experienced a rare virus during her pregnancy. Kristen expressed that grieving the loss of Adalida had been delayed due to giving birth to two beautiful living children, breast cancer and covid. She heard through it all that she was strong, and many times did not feel strong.

In this episode we talked about:

  • Not always feeling strong.
  • Due to being so sick not remembering.
  • Finding peace and being surrounded by a community.
  • Working through grief eight years after her loss.
  • Holding grief in the body.

"You don't have to have all the answers or have everything lined up. There are people out there that want to help you and you find out who is there for you and hold on to them." -- Kristen Azotea
